Subject: Huntsville Tri Scene?
Hey guys,

I am looking at pharmacy residencies for next year and I am curious as to the triathlon scene in and around huntsville. One of my top choices i'm looking at is Hunstville Hospital. I feel it will be a good fit professionally and am wondering about local teams, groups, rides, etc.

Thanks
-Andrew

Below are the links for our local bike and running club.  We've got several local races(say a hours drive): Wet Dog(Decatur), Mountain Lakes(Guntersville), Hiwaay Sprint(Huntsville), Rocketman(Huntsville),  Frantic Frog(Scottsboro).

There are alot of running races in our area.

There is one other active BTer I know of, Rogillio.  We are both on the West side of Madison City.

You could add Buster Britton (Sprint) to your list.  It is at Oak Mountain state park in Pelham, Alabama.  Pelham is just a few miles south of Birmingham.  Just a short drive from Huntsville.  I think it is around June.

BHam is central AL.  I was just throwing out the N. AL races.

I did BB last year.  Very nice race, but plan on rain.  Well, at least for the last 3 years.

The odds of it raining again are pretty good.  For some reason we could be in the middle of a drought and it would still rain on that weekend.

The local tri club can be found here, http://teamrockettri.org/ I've been meaning to join but haven't gotten around to it. We've got more 5k's than we know what to do with, and several longer races.  Monte Sano Mountain has some good trails to run from what I've heard, if you're into that.

Cool, thanks everyone for the input. The roadie group looks pretty good from what i can tell. And I have never really ran trails, but would love to have a place to do that. Another one of my places is Bham, so there is about a 2/5 chance i will end up in bama. heh.
