So last year I started training for for various potential races. I did want to sign-up to fa in advance in case something occurred and i couldn't do it. Of course, as each race approached I had some reason to skip the race, work, not enough training, family, etc.

I started down the same road this year and I finally decided I should make it as difficult as possible to keep from the race. So now I am signed up for my first race in two weeks. I feel confident I can complete it, even if I am DFL.

One small step for me, one giant leap towards who I want to be..

Congrats on the first step...keep on training...and we can't wait to read your rr (race report) when you finish your first triathlon!

I procrastinated signing up for my first Tri out of fear.....glad I did sign up.

Way to go! Registering for that first race can be more motivating than just about anything else.

Good Job!!!  I'm totally with you on the "submit" button thing...  I used to bike to school and then swim a mile a day when I went to U of BC - like, twenty years ago, and then sat behind a desk for the next 20 years...  started dating a girl a few years ago who did a couple of tris..  and I guess I let my good sense go out the window and pushed the "submit" button in February, thinking I could get it back by this summer (wrong).. but nevertheless, am ready to roll this Sunday in my first sprint tri.. totally freaked out, but totally excited at the same time!!!

Congratulations!
You'll be amazed at how much you will learn from your first race and how it will help to better focus your future training.
Good luck!
