Subject: running runs

A friend of mine (no it's really not me) has been training for a half-marathon.  When she runns by the time she has done for 4 miles she is needing to run to the bathroom for "the runs."  she only expereinces this when she runs.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so any cures for runners runs?

Thanks

It's not atypical, but it's also not THAT common...

I have had an issue once or twice.  Those were scary occasions...

To be honest, I can only think that diet may need to be looked at.  Maybe purge the system before you/her go out for long runs.

There could be some meds you can take (Imodium).  But that's just a guess.  They are used if you have issues, not to prevent them, I'm guessing.

Doctor consultation?

Could be diet, however could also be that she needs to make sure she eats/drinks at least 90 minutes before going out for long runs.  That gives the digestive system enough time to do it's work, and then bring water to sip as she runs to avoid dehydration.

Without knowing more about diet and pre-run nutrition, it is hard to pinpoint the issue.
