Does anyone have any good pictures of a correctly mounted profile designs aero drink bottle, either with or without the bracket?  Also, how do you get that silly yellow poof to stay in place without just falling out or slipping into the bottle?  So far, I just use the black lid.

I fumbled around with the bracket, but the directions sucked and it didn't seem that secure.  So I took the bracket off and just put the bottle on top of my aero bars.  The bars are close enough together that the aero drink won't slip through, and I just use the 2 elastic rubber bands to secure it onto my bike.

On my first ride, I got splashed a bit more than I expected, and apparently it's a common occurrence.  I fixed the problem with a few strips of electrical tape on top of the black lid - no more splashing.

Thanks,
Justin

I'm also throwing in a free view of my butt. It's a nice one.

I have used the elastics as well as the velcro tape and both work fine for me. I also just use the black lid- the previous incarnation of the bottle didn't have a lid and you were licking gatorade off of your lips and fingers and everything else if the transition area was bumpy. I think your solution should be just fine. Enjoy the view.

Unravel the yellow thing.  I did not understand that when I first used one.

Now that it is flattened out, roll it like you would a burrito.  I don't know how much sense that makes without a picture.  But it will stay put better this way rather than just stuffing th eyellow thing in the top of the bottle.

How do I get to your album?  I viewed your profile, and the area under "Photos" was blank.

Thanks.

Throw the yellow thingy away or use it for washing dishing, go to Wal-Mart and buy a $1 shower poofy. I even found a royal blue one to match my bike. It will fit in the top very tightly with little to no splashing. I actually took mine apart and cut about a 1/3 of it off to make it easier to stuff in the aero drink.

BTW, To view cheeki's album go to Albums and there is a search feature.

Just an FYI but I did a review of hydration options and addressed some of these issues between the options out there. If you decide to ditch that bottle I reviewed a few others that seemed to work better.Review

Yellow sponge thing works fine if you put it on its side and stuff it in the opening all the way so that the longer dimension runs front to back aligned with the bottle.

Go to the tab album in my post and there you will see the album titled Jammer GT.  There are two pics with my set up.

I have a set of Jammers and I don't have enough bar out the front to fit an aero bottle.  Maybe I will after I get fitted.  That would be cool!  Do you have to reach "around" your bottle to grip the jammers?

I have to say I find the yellow poofy thing poor engineering and don't understand the logic behind it.  The newer Profile bottles with a cap are better.  I got one of those and am much happier, even though they too have the poof ball inside underneath the slotted cap.

I can still pour refills through the cap, it just doesn't fly everywhere.

I'm about to ditch mine this season in favor of a bottle cage on the aero bars, but I'd agree that the yellow poofy thing is pointless.  I gave mine to the cat (and I don't even like the cat) and put electrical tape over the black cap. No spills or splashes.  To refill on the fly I just remove the cap and pour.  Not a problem.

As for mounting, I mostly used just the rubber bands like you, but the bottle does shift around a bit that way, and I don't like that, so I made my own 'bracket' out of an old piece of semi-rigid plastic and some zip ties.  Sorry, no pics, but it's easy to do.  (Cut the plastic to shape to hold the bottle, then zip-tie it to the aero bars.)

I got an "aero net" which I set the bottle in and it also has a pouch for other stuff. I do also use rubberbands around my shifters bars and the neck of the bottle to keep the rattling noise down. I got a great laugh at my last race where there were about 20 yellow poof thingys at a bumpy spot in the road Laughing

This...  I think this is how it is supposed to work, and I'm shocked that Profile Designs never updated their instructions telling users this.  It's such an issue, they have to know about it.  Back in the day, any big bump in the road during a race was littered with several water bottles and many yellow poofy things.

Thanks everyone!  I wish Profile Design had better directions, but all of this information was great.

Their directions on both the bottle and bracket are very poor. Like the directions were an afterthought.
