Pre-race routine:

hectic. got there early, but wasted time getting air in my tires (forgot pump). bikes had to be dropped off on sat.

general readiness, setup transition sipped drinks and ate some chews. had a clif bar and banana on the drive over.

got in a light jog and a few strokes in the ocean before start.

Comments:

flat as a pancake. fast swim. crawled past swimmers from previous waves, but generally pretty well spaced out. nice swim.
Transition 1

Comments:

ok transition, found my spot easy enough.

walked around, drank gatorade and ate.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

soreness on the run

Excellent overall race.

Great race.

Not doing Honu...but am targeting it next year as my A race.  I could probably finish if I tried it this year...but it wouldn't be fun...LOL

Given we have the same bike...we rode fairly close splits...even at HQBN...LOL

Good luck at Honu...I'm going to have to pick your brain when you come back!!!

hey! yes I noticed we do have very similar splits on the bike! haha...yeah I was thinking that too.

yep, be glad to tell you all about Honu experience...it's what I've been training for, hopefully not going to be too much of torture. looking forward to it...

Great job. Top ten in your AG too. Wonder where you would have ended up without the leg issue starting the run.
I agree on the wind and rain. I was laughing while riding thinking about having this storm cloud traveling above me while everyone else is enjoying sunshine.

What time are you shooting for at the HIM?

Nice race. Didn't you just love that damn ran on Lagoon? At least it kept it cooler. Looks like you are ready for Honu with no problem, hope to see you there.

thanks guys! was fun.

yeah the ride was fine until the squall hit on lagoon drive. it really didn't let up much after that, it
was rainy, wet roads, with headwind the entire way back.

hoping for a decent time in honu, but we'll see, it's my first HIM ... I'll be glad to feel good on the run...and not bonk out.

are you guys doing it ?

Yep, did it last year too. Let's hope it's not as hot. Only advice I'll give you is to drink a lot on the bike and respect the run. I didn't last year and I payed for it. The mini energy lab is brutal.
