I did it last year. Based on the weather we are having...that water is going to be F'n cold.
Get a neoprene cap. The water last year was only 12or so degrees. Slowly get used to it. If you haven't swam OWS go the day before. i think they let you in on Satyurday to practice.
I heard the bike is a different route as well. Which is good. Last year their was a ton of construction  in the area.
Good luck!!

This is going to be my first race as well and I'm a little nervous for it.

I'm just doing the Sprint this year maybe work towards an Olympic next year.

This is my first race too. I am doing the sprint also and hoping to go for the Olympic next year, I have a wetsuit (which I bought online & after the snow last week I am glad it got that) but does anyone know where to get a neoprene cap in the city?

The road race is from what I can see going down 101st past the Scottish society towards RR 510 just west of Beaumont. I took a spin out there last night and although the road is pretty rough in places with a few pot holes that could cause some punctures it is fairly flat.

If anyone has any good advise, especially on the transition piece of the race, that would be great!

If you are in Edmonton, go to Element Multisport.
Calgary go to Tri-it.

Edmonton - Way Past Fast just off Calgary Trail (NB towards downtown). Do they still call that Calgary trail?

Anyways... they have the caps.

This will be my second year at this race. Fun sprint - fast track!

Yes, the swim is bone chilling!! Do get yourself a neoprene cap! I'm considering wearing socks during my bike to try and warm my feet up. Most people said they didn't feel them towards the end of the run - seriously!

Nice post race stuff too. Should be a great day as it's supposed to be warmer this year!

Good luck all and hope to see some of you on the beach!
