Swim
Comments: Pretty much the same as always, especially considering that I haven't been swimming since last month. I did make a conscious effort not to overdo it so I could run - rather than walk - to my bike and I think it paid off. What would you do differently?: Swim more? Happy overall with it. Transition 1
Comments: I felt faster than usual but apparently I wasn't. No socks again. Definitely wasting precious time turning on the Garmin, although this time I was glad I did because the magnet on my Cateye got flipped and it wasn't registering speed or distance. What would you do differently?: Maybe try the run and jump on the bike? I'll try practicing it. Bike
Comments: Bike is definitely improving but I'm still low in my age group. What would you do differently?: Keep riding Transition 2
Comments: Ugh. This is where I rant. As I'm going to rack my bike, another woman on my rack cuts me off and says "I need to put my bike here." Um, not on top of my stuff you don't. She goes to the other side where her stuff is and puts her bike on, knocking over the bike of someone else who is trying to get her shoes on. Pushy bike girl does NOTHING, so I waste my T2 time putting the victim's bike back on the rack. Unfortunately, I think I let this bother me on the run. What would you do differently?: Rat out the pushy girl to a ref. No, I should have focused on my own race and not let it bother me. Run
Comments: I thought I was going faster but I felt pretty good. Wanted to catch a friend in front of me but didn't do it. What would you do differently?: See T2 comments - focus on myself. Post race
Warm down: Meet up to congratulate cousin on his first finish! What limited your ability to perform faster: Same as always - not enough training. This time, though it really bothered me that I was not higher in my age group because I felt so good. I typically have the attitude that I slack on training so I can enjoy other things, but I'm tired of how I feel when I see my results compared to others who are actually training, so I'm going to focus more. (That said, if I were ten years younger, I would have placed 5th out of 10, so I do have a fast age group full of awesome women!) Last updated: 2010-06-12 12:00 AM

Wake up, load bikes in car while cousin is still sleeping before his first-ever triathlon because he forgot to set his alarm. Yogurt and Espresso Hammergel while riding to race site. Seriously yummy breakfast that helps meet the caffeine needs as well.
Not much - just helping cousin with his set up (like telling him he was racked in the wrong spot) and showing him the course.
