Subject: Forum posting from iPad
I can't seem to post on a thread from my iPad. I can click the reply button and the window to create a post will appear, but the cursor and keyboard will not come up so that I can enter text. Oddly enough I can click in the subject line and the keyboard will come up and let me type, just not in the main mesage window. And if I click on Submit it will submit a blank post. So the problem appears to be entirely in getting the iPad to recognize that the message body is a text entry area and give me the keyboard.

Anybody know what the issue might be? Is it an iPad thing or am I doing something wrong?

This has to do with the rich text editor. You can disable it in the Settings page on the Forum Settings tab.

We're testing a change right now to have the forums and blogs recognize mobile devices and to not load the rich text editor for them.

Cindi, can you try now with your Rich Text setting on 'Yes'? We've done a system update to handle this situation.

It's been tested with Windows Mobile, Android and an iPod Touch, but we need confirmation with an iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Palm (WebOS).

This is such a great fix. I no longer have to click the  "STOP" button to halt page loading just after the textbox is rendered, but before the rich edit controls are added.

Can you please modify the Rich Edit box in my training log ("overall comments" and the in-place "blog" feature) to respect the mobile browser as well?

Thanks!!

This was part of the original mod. It works on my Android phone and iPod Touch. Which device are you using?

ETA: if this is happening on an iPhone, you can try clearing the browser cache:
From the Home screen, choose Settings > Safari. Tap Clear Cache.

I cleared the cache, and clicked Training from my log. If I scroll the bottom I have the rich edit box still.  Here's a screen capture.

Another thing Slidell, I assume you can't view videos like this on the iPad:

Can you confirm?

One thing I noticed is when it first starts loading the rich text editor is not loaded and you can start typing but once the pagefully loads the rich text editor is there.  But when your on your blog view of the training page the blog link is not there.  Mine is the iPhone as well

Either way, I am stoked that at least the forum stuff works now without changing settings.  You guys rock.

This fix has been greatly helpful. However, I find that when posting from my iPhone 'returns' are lost.

Sorry, but I don't have an iPad. I've only got an iPhone 3G.

This should be all set now. If anyone with an iPhone could confirm, that would be helpful.

The forum post and the training comments section revert to non-rich text when I access from my iPhone (3G, running iOS4)  Looks good!
This is a great enhancement.
