We have reservations at the state park to camp (site 71) but are waiting to register for the race until we know the kids are free from high school sport stuff.

I can't imagine the water will be wet suit legal being that it looks like an inland pond.

I'm signed up for the Oly, the wife and daughter (her first) are in for the Girls Tri Too on Saturday.

probably in - just secured time with the grandparents for the kiddos. It was wetsuit legal last year (my first year doing the race). It was pretty uncomfortable in a wet suit as it was very toasty. The water temp was 76 I think last year. It is flat but the run is fairly sunny and you have the wind from the lake to deal with.

No more sparkles although it was suprisingly comfortable - no abrasions. I suffered more from the odd tanning areas

I'm signed up for the Oly (second one ever, so don't expect to see me at the front of the pack).  I'll be there on a 21 year old roadie, cursing the drivetrain every time I try to shift into the big ring.  Maybe with a flat course I can just leave it there though.

Does anyone know if there's a place to shower on site?  I'm probably going to get a hotel room, and don't expect to make it back before checkout time.

I'm not familiar with the campground, but you could either drive into the campground and use the bathrooms there or if they have security and won't let you drive in you could always just ride your bike along one of the paths to the campground.  I plan on hitting my site after the Oly and hitting the shower before we head for home, if your stuck riding your bike in you could leave it at my site as there looks to be a bathroom real close to our site.  I don't have to check out until 1 pm so I'm thinking I'll have time to make it all workout.

weather forecast looks rather steamy. my mom also said the mayflies are back. can anyone near the lake confirm the squiggly masses of flying insects all over the place?

hot and steamy, should be just right for you to prance around in little clothing.

If i could find jorts thatwould fit under the wetsuit i'd do it

I am not sure if this is going to be wetsuit legal so you might be in luck. That lake is small and shallow and it has been pretty hot.

I have not been able to find the swim course online.  It says it is and out and back swim.  Could anyone give me a better idea of it?  How far out?  Straight out and back?  Triangle course?  The only 2 races I've done have been straight down following the shore (Wendy's) and a 2 lap pool swim (Tri for Joe).

swim course last year is a rectangle positioned so that the long sides are perpendicular to the shore, short edges parallel. The sprint people do one lap, olympic two. You will not be close to shore or in water you can stand in for the majority of the swim.

It says the bike course if flat and fast.  No inclines or ones that would really impede the biking?

Good news for you wet suit lovers. RD said the water is at 77 during the pre race meeting for the womens tri this evening. So as long as tomorrows temps don't bump it up to much you may get to use them.Bike course looks pretty fast provided the wind doesn't get rippin like it has been all day today.
