Just curious what the venue is like, and what the bike/run course have to offer.  The swim at 1km sucks for me, but it is what it is.  I may nto get to try out the course before race day, so I'd like to know as much as possible.

I did Belwood last year. I had a great time even though the weather did not co-operate. Its a very nice venue. The swim is rectengulatr - straight out for about 450m, then you turn toward the left shore for about 100m and then back along the shore / dam. Once you clear the half-way point you are always close to shore. The water is kinda opaque due to all the silt.
The bike ride is very good (I set one of my fastest rides that day) - some gentle rollers.
I liked the run as well (though some people felt different) - its mostly on trails and is a Y-shaped out and back, out-and back along the arms of the "Y". There is a part of the run along the dam as well. I think it makes a great prep race for an upcoming Olympic or even an 'A' Sprint race .

I did Belwood for the first time last year....it was a nice venue...be prepared to get there early though....we left early (I thought) and got caught in the traffic lineup on the highway.  It was some time trying to get into the event.  Parking is a bit of a pain....quite a hike...narrow walkways with traffic coming in.  Bike had some hills....nothing too big.  Swim and run....nothing stands out in my mind as too difficult...a good race.  Good luck!

Tristar1 offers good advice on the traffic - I thought I'd have plenty of time but it was a parking lot getting in and no fun trying to get ready in a hurry.  Agreed with Mark on the swim - not bad but water wasn't very clear.  I didn't like the run - the first/last part aren't bad but once you get on the trail there isn't a lot of room to pass and nothing much to look at but a long line of runners.  Having said that - I'm up for it again this year.  Wanna see if I've improved at all

This will be the second event of my triathlon career. I'm doing the fat tire try-a-tri...hopefully my cross bike will keep me upright! I will try the sprint next year after I work on my swimming over the off season!
