Looking forward to a great event again in 2010!  Well, maybe just a wee bit coolerSurprised  Does anyone know how many have signed up this year?

I'm registered in the sprint and it will be my Triathlon debut.  I figure the Canal is only 4' deep so it would be a good venue to begin my career (swimming is my worst sport).

If you have family or friends coming with you for support, they can literally walk along side you as you swim.  You'll be able to hear and see them as you go.   Congrats on TRIING TRI's, the downside is getting the "Tri Bug"Smile meaning you'll be hooked!

Good Luck!

I like the idea that family can walk along side during the swim.  Actually I hope its more like a jog than a walk but either way I'll take it.

I'm in for the Oly.  This will be my second tri and I hope I can improve a bit from my last one in Muncie on June 12.

I'm in for the Olympic hoping for a great race.  Would like to break 2:20, so we will see.  I will be on vacation the weeks before so I may not be my sharpest.  I hope to meet several of you at the event I have a blue and silver Guru and a blue and orange tri suit.

I've done the sprint the past few years but this year I'm in for the Olympic.  I'm looking to work on pacing for an upcoming HIM - looking to run well off the bike (and maybe PR at the Oly distance).

Hope to see some of you there.  Perhaps we should schedule a BT meetup?

I'm doing the sprint again this year. Anybody know if there have been any improvements to the roads on the bike course?

I'm contemplating adding this one to my race calender because of a friend doing the duathlon but we'll see if I can get off work for it.  I won't know until the Sunday before...will that be way too late to register?

I didn't see a registration close date but they did sell out last year according to their site.

I am doing the oly.  This will be my first oly.  I've got about 5 sprints under my belt, including the one I'm doing tomorrow.

I might jump in.  Loved this race last year, but I've got a full week and late night the night before.

I'm signed up for the Oly. Hoping for a significant improvement over last year. This will be my first "repeat" race  from last season, so it will be a good measure of improvement I think. Although, I hope I'm fully recovered from the Muncie long course last week. My legs are still pretty tired from it.

I would like to met up with some fellow BT'ers. I'll be wearing a white TYR sleeveless Jersey. Riding a Fuji Aloha.

I'm with you reubenmc - I hope they've used some stimulus $'s to improve the roads on the bike course. I'm doing the Oly again this year and hoping for a smoother ride!

I am planning the Olympic this year, I did the Sprint last year.  It will be my first of this distance.  X2 on smoother roads as well, last year they were rough particularly just past the turnaround.

Regarding water temp, I think last year it was close to 80 and I would assume with the crazy heat this area has seen it will be at least that warm.

Ditto on hoping to meet and say to some  hello to other BT'ers.  I'll be the old guy from Michigan.  White Sleeveless Aevero Shirt (purchased from this website), black/neon green shorts that say "BLINK" (grand rapids tri group) on them riding a craigslist special - OCR 3Smile

I've done a handful of sprints over the last couple of years, this will be my first Oly.
I'm not 100% where I wanted to be with my training/preparedness, so my goal is to do what I can and at least finish.

BT tri-suit. Black Leader bike.

current water temperature: 79 degrees (taken Thursday, July 22)

This was just posted on TUXBRO website.  We need somebody to go throw ice in the canal to get it down 1 Degree!!

Maybe some rain and cooler nighttime temps will get us that 1 degree between now and race time.

With a predicted high today of 97 and a heat index of 105-115, I don't think it's going to get cooler.  Especially since it's 4 feet deep.

With the canal only being about four feet, If I get overwhelmed or tired, I'll just stand up and rest for a quick sec.  I feel good about being able to do that as opposed to a deep lake or ocean where I can't touch the bottom.  Still learning the ropes of OWS.  Wink

Haha  If you do just make sure you move to the side while swimming or start on the side so you don't have someone run over or into you.  I don't know what the visibility will be but its likely it won't be real good.

Reassuring to hear I'm not the only one still feeling Municie (my 1st HIM)
