OK, who's in for 2011?

This will be my 4th Eagleman race in the 5 years of racing tri's.

Any questions, goals or smacktalk is of course welcome

I decided to give it a go along with a vacation planned for next summer.

Last year (2010) was punishment for sure.  No wetsuit and 106 heat index on the run.

I am in!  I want a little payback.

I am In... I have returned to the site that punished me it 2008... Heat index was 106 that year and from what I can tell, last year was just as bad if not worse.

I'm in.  My first half.  It's also on my wife's birthday, so might make an extra day or two out of it and get away from the kids.  I feel kind of bad for racing on her birthday, but she told me to do it.

I am contemplating Eagleman for next year.  I have my first half this weekend and will see how that goes.   I may pull the trigger on Eagleman when I get back if it is not filled, or I may just repeat Timberman next year.  To be honest, one of the things that freaks me out a bit about Eagleman is jellyfish!

What hotels are best to stay at? Close and convenient?

I'm doing the Chesapeakeman next month and didn't find much information other than host hotel on website.

im in for next year. just did Lake Stevens last weekend (fantastic venue!!) and am moving to VA this fall. this one will be the closest 70.3 to us. i did FL 70.3 in May and I cant imagine the run at Eagleman being any worse than the "african grasslands"run in Orlando...

this is my first year of tri's so any info for a first timer at Eagleman would be greatly appreciated!

Me too! 2010 was my first HIM, and boy was it HOT I had so much fun, though, despite the heat, so I'm in for round 2!

One of the unfortunate problems with Eagleman is that hotels fill really fast for this race.  I'd be if you were to call around to all surrounding hotels right now you'd have a really tough time.  On a different note I stayed in Seaford, DE the first time I did the race.  It's about a 30 min car ride in the morning.  Not bad at all and it's in a quite location.  The last time I did the race I was lucky to get a homestay about 1 mile from the start of the race.  Home cooked meals and all.

PennState - 2010-09-06 9:49 AM Is Eagleman even sold out yet?

It used to sell out in a week or 2, but not this time. Wonder what gives?

Yeah, I was suprised that it was still open as I had the impression it sold out fast. That is why I signed up the first day it was open. Yesterday I saw you could still sign up.

you can camp out at the local high school for the Fri and Sat nights before the Eagleman race. A ton of racers were there in everything from pup tents to huge RVs

you can get a beat-up trailer on ebay for less than the cost of a few nights at the Hyatt.

Best restaurants I found in town were at the Hyatt even though I didn't stay there.

I'm in.  Just registered last night, I couldn't look at the open registration any longer...  Can't believe it lasted this long.  First time at Eagleman, 5th HIM.

Going after a Clearwater slot, how does that work?  Couldn't find much on the site.  Is it an online thing or do you have to show in person after the race to see if you got a spot?

Good luck, look forward to meeting some of you.
