Pre-race routine:

DID NOT PLAN ON DOING THIS TODAY UNTIL I GOT TO GYM. NUTRITION SUCKED, DID NOT HAVE WATER. FORTUNATELY MY SISTER IN LAW WAS THERE AND HAD EMPTY BOTTLE SHE FILLED WITH WATER AND GAVE TO ME DURING THE RUN. SO I GUESS I WOULD BE DQ'D FOR OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE.
Event warmup:

WASN'T GOING TO RACE BECAUSE I WENT DURING OPEN SWIM AND THERE WAS 5 OR 6 PEOPLE IN THERE SO I WAS JUST PRACTICING MY STROKE. WHEN THEY LEFT I TOLD KATIE THAT I WAS GOING TO DO A MOCK TRI AND STARTED THE SWIM PORTION.
Swim
  • 09m 38s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

CUT ABOUT 2 MINUTES OFF OF MY LAST TIME. PERCIEVED EFFORT 5
What would you do differently?:

EAT PROPERLY BEFORE SWIM, MAKE SURE I WAS PROPERLY HYDRATED
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

IT DID TAKE ABOUT 6 MINUTES TO CHANGE AND GET UP TO WHERE THE BIKES WERE. IF I KNEW THAT I WAS GOING TO DO THIS TODAY I WOULD HAVE HAD MY GEAR OUT OF MY BAG AND EASILY ACESSABLE
Bike
  • 37m 2s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.06 mile/hr
Comments:

LEGS WERE PAINFUL AT FIRST BUT OK ONCE I GOT INTO THE GROOVE. ABOUT AN 8 MINUTE IMPROVEMENT I THINK, I HAVE TO LOOK BACK.
What would you do differently?:

SEE SWIM.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

IT ONLY TOOK A MINUTE FOR ME TO GET A DRINK OUT OF FAUCET AND WRITE DOWN BIKE TIME.
Run
  • 43m 42s
  • 3.12 miles
  • 14m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

I am very happy with the way my run is coming around ever since i put the inserts in my shoes. I no longer have arch, achilles tendon or shin pain. I am still just joggin along at 4.4 to 4.6 right now for about 3.5 minutes and walking at 3.8 for a minute to a minute and a half. By the time my first tri comes in June I will be doing a lot better.
What would you do differently?:

See Swim.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Last minute decision to do this today. But I did have two rest days before and just a very easy swim .
