Still working on the winter cycling plan v3.0 based on some of the comments and suggestions. The plan will be ready towards the end of the month since some athletes are still racing. I'll post something when it is ready...

Thanks Jorge.  By "end of the month" I assume you mean October?  That would be ideal for me - as you say, still a few races (sprint and half marathon) to tidy up!

I posted this in the "Challenge Forum Wants You" thread, but thought it might appeal to this group a little better.

I'd be interested in a "Challenge" made up of several people committed to getting faster in the off-season; not just "maintenance".
I'm not an Endurance Nation member, but I like their off-season approach - Jorge's cycling plan would fit the bill for the bike leg - of faster not longer in the off-season and not messing around with P90X, weights, etc.
If you could get a couple coaches and a couple fast AG/KQ types in there maybe it could be something.
Not exactly sure what would be discussed in that type of thread other than the regular check-in and "Hi, how was your workout yesterday", which as others have said, doesn't really appeal to me.  I know it's not your duty but if you can convince this would a worthwhile thread, then I'd consider it.

@VeganMan - I'd be up for the extra motivation that a challenge group structured around Jorge's program would provide..... and yes, I need to get faster, certainly not maintain!

So as not to further hi-jack what is a lovely thread, just PM me if you're interested in such a thread as described above and if there's enough interest there I'll start a new thread in the Challenge forum.  Probably won't be like most threads there though.  Not sure what it will be like.

another suggestion Jorge, for you and for all joining the plan from end of October.
An excellent way to motivate each other in this group is to post from time to time the achievement done by the partecipants in terms of %FTP at each training session so, indipendently from the skills, you can compare what you did and what you could have done...
example: 6x4'@105%FTP with 45" recovery
I do 104, 105, 103, 102, 101 and i give up on the last one
another one does 5x105 and 107% on the last one
and so on
and maybe you can even understand if the session has been designed too hard for most of us if we fail in doing it...

I have no problem delaying the 3x weekly pain/hurt box until the end of October !  I came out of this winter program in March of this year in my best bike shape and had great results.  If you do the workouts consistently you will improve...mind you...there is some pain involved in some of these workouts but the results are worth it.

"The plan will be ready" doesn't mean the program will start, right?   I'm guessing the program will start beginning of Nov.

For the people who are just getting a new power tap, I have 2 LYC's that I'm not using... I'll probably accept any reasonable offer if anyone would want one.  They are BRAND NEW... they came with my PowerTap, but I'm using my Garmin...

PM me if you're interested...

Indeed the v3.0 will be ready at the end of this month and will start in Nov. But technically athletes can start any time!

H Jorge, and all experienced with the previous versions of the winter plan, just wondering if this will work for my HIM in may. It'll be my first so I've got no experience with any bike program.  Thanks!

Yes, this is the type of 'work' anyone wanting to get faster should be doing in the off-season.  If you're committed to a HIM training plan already and assuming it's 18-20wks, and assuming Jorge's trainer plan is 14wks, you're probably going to have a little overlap which is fine.  I'd also consider repeating or some variation of the plan for your weekday bike training, assuming weekend long rides.

Yeah x2.

I'll let you guys know when it is good to go and start a new thread for everyone to post in there. Right now I'll have the preparation phase good to go on 10-18-10 for those coming off resting (doing little or no training). That way you can be ready to start the plan on 11-01-10.

For sure! The plan will officially start on 11-01-10 and end on 02-22-11. That leaves you March and April to do specific HIM prep and with the cycling fitness gained you should be in great position to kill the race!

Sweet, thanks Jorge and VeganMan!  I think I'll have this plan run into my HIM plan and pick up where this drops off.  I've been doing some of last years plan...much different than how I normally ride, I think I see some big gains coming!

That email was already sent out.   Did you send Jorge an email a few weeks ago?  It may not be too late so send him an email on the double!

I got that email and sent what I wanted to order.  I was wanting to know when they needed the 50% deposit and what the final discount was going to be.

I haven't heard anything from the regional rep yet, but last week Jorge said once they get to the threshold of people in which the discount would take place they would be reaching out since Jorge provided them with the contact info and what everyone had wanted....  I was thinking it would be sometime this week but nothing yet.
