had a race this sunday, this is the pic of the bike in race setup.  i was able to ave 23.5 mph over 25 miles AP 210w, NP 223w according to my garmin.  the race time was a little different not sure if it included transitions times, probably did.

what would be the best HIM setup....i am not sure i can run this for the HIM bike.  the front bottle is too small i can't fit anything larger and still be comfortable.

should i just add a rear wing?  thoughts or suggestions?

Looks great to me!

Since you can only fit that smaller bottle between the bars, is that bottle still big enough to be your primary (3-hour) bottle of fuel?  If so, use it for that, and then use your downtube cage for your on-course exchange bottles.  When you have on-course exchanges, there's really no good reason to have more than 2 bottles on your bike.

Rock it and have fun!

Cheers, Chris

if i could fit 2 big bottles this way I would have no issues.  the yellow bottle i left on the bike on purpose.  its tiny.  it wouldn't be enough nutrition for me.

it was a great setup for olympic i have to say.  and I really don't want to clutter it up for HIM....but i think i might have to....

Profile aerodrink bottle is 24oz.  Yeah I know some people like them, some hate them.

use some tape to hide those cables exposed on the front end. Cut and tape bib number on the seat tube on both sides. maybe an aero bottle on the down tube like this or this

Why can't you fit a bigger size water bottle on your aero bars? I can fit one of this 24oz

good idea...on the aero bottles.

as far as the aero bar bottle if i do that i will littlerally have no room for my hands.  that is how tight it is.  and my setup is very very narrow on the aero bars.

i will take some pics of me on the bike in another week or so....

I'm guessing the longer bottle interferes with hand placement on the bars.

I had that issue too when I first was trying to zip-tie a cage up there.  I just above gave up on the whole idea until I found the AeroHammock - problem solved!  Like any piece of equipment, it's not a solution that works for everyone, but it works perfect for my setup.

Nuts... I was thinking long versus narrow - my bad...

OK - other viable options to consider: HED Lollipop or the King Cage mount (I used this for a while - works very well, and is pretty darn cheap!)

Your stem rise is pretty high though, so not sure how well those can work.  Another idea, at any rate...

I'm having trouble envisioning the aero drink NOT working.  Mine has PLENTY of room between the bars.  The mounting system for the aero bottle is adaptable.  And, the bottle, itself, has gotta be <2" wide.

OK, one more idea, and then I'm all out

Mount something like this "upside down" so the cage & bottle is under your bars.  Not sure how easy that would be to use while riding, but with narrower bars, I would think it's perhaps do-able.

i will try to take a pic tonight with a bigger bottle in that same position so you can see...when i was refitted in May they moved my aero bars very close.  its extremely narrow.

Obviously, your bars are wider apart than your stem.  I just measured my bottle mounting bracket.  It's inside dimension is 1.5".  So, the bottle's 1.5" (OK, a 'little' less) wide.

Bottom line.....it'll fit.

you need to push the cage farther back in between the aerobars... if you can't replace it with on course bottles it won't do you much (any) good.

I say no to the wing...but we all know how I feel about that...

Other than that it's nitpicky stuff...
-trim cable sticking out as short as possible
-looks like the housing sticking out of the RD is a bit longer than it needs to be.
-Route your front brake through the right side bullhorn to shorten the amount of cable/housing
-Crinkle your number up before putting it on
-Drop dem spacers
-What tires are you running? What PSI?

Aerobottle on the frame...

sorry don't mean to hijack this thread but would you recommend either one of those settups for a road bike?  I like the idea of not having the reach down for the bottle.  I'm looking to do the same distance but with out the tri bike.

I use this and my bars are tighter than the 9-14cm they recommend. It just overlaps a bit and I use tape to keep it from rubbing on the bars.

I don't like rear cages as well. I think your set up looks good if you can get a larger bottle on front. That is my exact set up. For an Oly, I just remove the Torpedo Bottle and run a single bottle. Which I barely use anyway.

crinkle the number????

same premise as what Jorge was suggesting, just a different execution There's less air to get caught.  It matter more if you are forced to wear a race belt/pin the number to yourself...

some closeups of the aerobar with a bigger bottle.  as you can see pretty much leaves no room for anything else even my hands.  unless you guys think i installed this wrong.

two options

- flip that carbon plate around, re-mount the bottle. (can't tell what the "front" of it looks like.)
- get rid of the plate all together.

You've got a MILE of space from where the bottle ends to where your stem starts. Mine is set up holding directly to the stem.

If you decide to go with option 2 PM me and I'll walk you through getting it "solid"

-edit

Also, if neither of the above are a go, it *looks* like you can take the bottom ties and run them Behind your arm rest pads. That would bring it back as well

I think your xlab mount is installed backwards .. look closely at the top picture here

That would give you a bit more room, I think... check it out?

When you flip it and reinstall, smush it all the way against the stem (as close as possible) - use up that space Leegoo is talking about

yes this would be today....BUT i will do it after work....

speaking of which....my next 2 questions would be when you say tape cables, how tight we are talking here and just tape to the frame?

what do i do with spare tube?  olympic sprint i don't care.  but HIM i need to have an extra tube.  i never used pitstop either so i am thinking of picking that up.
