By the time I hit the water no shuffle will be needed and if by chance i do step on one the poor little bastard will be squished(Clyde).  I'm stoked, Im shutteling pro's from TIA to downtown Friday and plan on hitting the expo without the family(now I know what my wife feels like at the mall by herself) and plan on wandering ameslly around.  I wish i could drop my bike and get checked in Friday that way I don't have to make a special trip Saturday.  I'm doing the swim at the Causway at 5:30 today, after trying to swim CLW Beach Saturday this should be a breeze.

Ehh gonna ride motorcycle Friday so will be a nice day, then probably take everything Saturday and just stay in Tierra Verde so it won't be as bad.  HAve a coworker who lives near Straub who is also giving me a parking pass so I won't have to fight for that race morning

The drive over the skyway is one I make a lot for training so I am used to it, and I want to eat at Isla after the race so this is perfect

Also last Friday I was running down by northshore pool and a lady photographer was wading taking pics of paddleboarders and she got stung by a Stingray. The barb went thru her Achilles! Ouch! Please use the Stingray shuffle!!

OUCH.

The waves before me will have cleared out the area but still ...

Did anyone do the Pass-a-grille open water swim yesterday? I was some wind and it was a bit choppy out in the water? I was wondering if anyone that has done the swim yesterday can compare it to the bay choppiness experienced in past St. Anthony races. Thanks!

Water temp today 83F

Recommend getting a pair of cheap disposable flip flops. It's good mile and a half walk from transition to swim start. Safe those feet for the run....

Make sure to look in your race packet/goody bag for the Sommer Sports flier. It can help you SAVE MONEY on two upcoming races.

BTW, however the bay chop is on Saturday, it will be different come Sunday morning. I agree to bringing some throw away flip flops for the walk from transition to the beach, though they do clean the sidewalk Sunday morning, ya never know. If you do go the cheap flip-flop way, make sure to dispose of them properly, and that does not mean simply leaving them on the actual beach.

As you are on the course, look up and enjoy the scenery. For some of you this might be your only chance to see the area outside of the venue. But, as I do for all triathlons, KNOW THE COURSE. Drive or ride the course. It is up to you to know the course. Just because the person in front of you is on a bike or running in your direction does not mean that they are in the event. You will see people that slip in to the mix and well, they have to slip out at some point along the course.

One last thing, you may be interested in two posts I have at www.triathletesvillage.com that pertain to St. Anthony's.

Good luck in St. Pete, see you in Clermont.

Mark

Considering that bike check in does not begin until noon on Saturday, they have 14 hours to get the bike numbers on the racks.

BTW, you checked out the posts I have on triathletesvillage.com?

We are timing the Run in the Garden 5K (Winter Garden, FL) in the morning, so I need to do my final prepping.

Don't forget when you pick up your goody bag and race packet, there is a Sommer Sports and TriathletesVillage.com flier in there. Make sure to look it over on both sides. Could save you some money on two upcoming races in Clermont, FL.

For those that are doing the Meek & Mighty in the morning, have a great time.

i spoke with sister mary someone or other who is a vp at st anthonys in the med tent while my 9 yo was getting her knee bandaged and she said if it is choppy like it was this morn they will cancel or move it to an out and back closr to vinoy. reason being that its not just waves but no pattern and chop from all direcions and too hard to keep watch. that and the current can be too strong. by the way despite her bike crash, emma got 1st place 9yo proud daddy

Was very windy when I left St Pete tonight. Breezy here in Tampa, just across the bay. Tomorrow will be interesting. I don't know that I'll do a duathlon if the swim is called. I'm all about the swim.

Swim has been shortened and moved. It will be a 1000 yard triangle north of transition. Entrance and exit on the same beach. Shorter walk than going to the pier but longer run to T1.
