I posted this in the injury board but I'm freaking out a bit because I'm in peak training for IMCOZ.

Out on my 100 miler today at about mile 65 I had a sudden sharp burning sensation in my left knee over my knee cap.  It hurt enough to make me stop pedaling and then the pain immediately went away.  This occurred numerous more times until I got home.  It still feels weird if I raise my knee towards my chest standing but not enough to stop full range of motion.  I'll be calling the doctor first thing Monday but running causes no pain on it at all.  I realize the knee is complex and asking for a diagnosis over the internet does not replace seeing a doctor but its the weekend and I'm looking for any ideas.  Thanks.

I hope the doc gave you good news.

Did your seat height slip down?

I was diagnosed with patellofemoral syndrome.  The pain was likely caused by muscle fatigue and over compensastion of other muscles which pulled the patella out of track.  Seat and cleats looked fine.  The doctor gave me the ok to ease back into biking.  Running is no problem so that is good too.
