I'm sure there is more to it that I understand, but why the big price drop for 2011??
P2 is $2550 MSRP up here. 2010 was $3100.

Competition. There are now a few quality tri bikes available for under $2,500 (USD). By getting the price under the $2,500 threshlold (The P2 sells for $2,400 USD) they expand the prospective customer base and keep it in line with their competition.

The only change in model years, aside from paint color and price, is the fork. The 2011 P2 uses the same fork as the P4 and last year's Dura-Ace P3.

I got my P2 in August and paid just over $3000 for it. If I knew they were dropping prices I would have waited and got it now.
I'm assuming that the P2 is the new entry level bike so they gave it a more entry level price.

Great business decision by Cervelo. Same mold for the P2 for many years now and it's still a great frame. As another poster pointed out, the $2500 range is the "first serious tri bike" range for most people. Fits all the criteria most people are looking for: Carbon and Ultergra. To be the cheapest in that category, is huge.

Romor has it the P1 (just like the S1) will no longer be produced in the years to come.

I'm going to check out tri bikes tomorrow at the LBS that carries cervelo. Really excited to check out the 2011 P2 as it's my most likely purchase

I don't know if they are discontinuing the P1 or not, but I know it's identical to the last 2 years of the P1...including Ultegra 6600 derailleur.

I am still shocked at the price drop... there are a bunch of folks with used ones that are going to be very disappointed that they cannot sell their P2's because of the new price point... now you can get a new '11 for the price of a used '09... anybody know when they will ship to retailers? Laughing
