Good work so far that is 30lbs total and a good trend.

Are you eating enough, and eating enough protien most days. I know I have two low days for intake Monday and Tuesday. I have to EAT more on Wed to make up for it. If I don't come thursday I eat everything in sight.

I feel like I am eating enough and I use the sparkpeople.com app on my phone and plug in my food each day etc, so I am hitting my protein / fat/ carb goals etc.

I think the truth is I'm just a bit too much of a piggly wiggly.Embarassed

jaegee - 2011-01-06 2:59 PM Sorry everyone, didn't realize weigh-ins are on Wednesdays

I weighed in this morning and came in at 241. A loss of 4lbs. I'm not too concerned about the large amount. It probably is just some water retention from the previous weigh-in.

My eating has been really good and I am currently training for a HIM, which is also going well. So I imagine if I stay with the same structure I should see continued weight loss. I promised myself that as a reward when I got down to 235lbs, I would get a nice scale that generically does bf%, etc... I used to track bf% by calipers, but that is a pain in the butt, so as long as the scale is consistent, I'll be happy. Hopefully by beginning of February I'll hit that 235 mark.

Good luck and good work everyone! Smell that bacon coming off!

Great suggestion, Thanks! This scale looks great and the reviews are good as well. I will do more research when I come closer to hitting 235, but this is the front runner.

Hey good work

Take a look at this one. It is the one I am thinking of. I am a data geek and all. My one buddy works at Omron on the automotive side supplying automation components he did some research for me including other brands and for the money and the value and accuracy this one did seem to pan out the best. They were like $300 not long ago. I held off myself but seeing they are really down in price I think I might pull the trigger soon too..

IF you do as well let me know how it works for you..

Is it too late to join this group?  I am starting at 217 and my goal is 165.

I would like to get to 180 for my first race at the end of April and then 165 for my final race in August.

It's a New Year's miracle...I have been tracking my food every day since last Tuesday!!  Even when I eat more than I know I should, I track it anyway.  I have done pretty well I think.  I've fallen into a good routine as far as eating about 5 times a day and am mostly full for the day.  With tracking food, doing a bootcamp at home and trying to get 30 minutes of cardio every day, I'm hoping to see the numbers on the scale start going down

Hey GREAT WORK about recording regarless.

I have been recording mine on here, you can log on here and see how often I eat. I do a pretty good job of it, however I slack on weekends. I recorded faithfully on Daily burn, I am making the transition to recording here. I am doing the same thing here however. I am NOT recording my veggies. I found that the veggies I EAT don't add up to much in calories and carbs etc. Some do but really not enough for me to waste my time.

IE in the morning today I ate scrambled eggs, I put that in, But I didn't put in my cup of brocolli I had in there too. Just saving data entry time for the 5 calories and 2 g of carbs it adds.

Well I am at a loss that I can't understand myself again.

Jan Start 219lbs on new years day.

Jan 5th  216 lbs Actual
Jan 12th 214 lbs     Actual 217lb  I increased workouts this week, Ate very well this week. Consumed 16082 calories for a negative def of about 2951 calories from eating along with working out 6 days and burning 4966 calories for a total negative of 7917 calories last week. All my math that worked in the begining is not working AT ALL for me now. I am def on this plateau that I can't break through. But I will have to wait and see what next week brings. I have had weird things like this and two week intervals seem to tell more of a tale then one week

Here is my math
Maint Cals for week 19033
Actual consumed 16082
Diff 2951 (I never eat less then 500 cals a day under Maint Cal)
Workouts 4699
Total Neg 7917

Calories to burn one lb according to mayo clinic 3500
Total weight loss according to math this week should have been 2.262 lbs.

I used this method from the beginning with Great success. But it no longer seems to be working. But thought I would provide the info for others.

But I was pumped to step on the scale today, I just seen the total Reverse of what I thought I would. I felt GREAT all week, Felt things were improving and was sure I would step on the scale to see 213 lbs.

Oh well hope everyone else has a good weigh in.

Jan 19th 213 lbs
Jan 26th 212lbs

CHRIS--  one of the things I have learn about depending totally on the scale alone is that it can be frustrating when the numbers don't make sense.  But muscle does weigh more that fat so at times the scale may not move but I believe it is also important to look at how you feel and how your cloths fit.  I definitely weigh myself almost everyday but try and make sure that I also look at how my cloths are fitting.

Just my 2 cents...

Weighed in at 315.8 this morning, down 4.8 pounds.  Still getting quick weight loss.  I am expecting it to slow down sometime during this first month.  I am happy with the progress, getting back into the swing of eating right and getting the work in.

Last week: 248.5

This week: 244

Only 4 more pounds to meet my goals!!  I tried going to the gym this morning to do my swimming but I got there and all of the lanes were taken.  I'm just not a strong enough swimmer to share a lane.  My form is horrible and I'm super slow and am pretty sure I would annoy anyone that would be forced to share with me.  I'm going to try again tomorrow and will be there a few minutes before the gym opens to make sure I get a lane by myself.

Because I'm tracking my food, I was able to have Wendy's (couple of junior hamburgers and a small fries) yesterday and still stay within my calorie, fat, etc. limits

GREAT point Alex and company.

This is why I stated in last months thread I tend to look at my two week weigh ins with more detail. IE look what happens over a two week period more then a one week period.

My friend/workout buddy has a really nice Omron Scale we all talked about (I have one on order) She weighed in at 134 lbs again this week and has for 3 weeks now. But in 3 weeks her Muscle is up by 1.5 % and her Visceral Fat is down 3.2% So NO weight change but def muscle improvement. A sure sign of improvement

AND yes I HAVE felt much better this last week. I feel better when I eat better that is for sure.

Frustration made me upset, I provided lots of info so some people can look at what I have done. And Really I am still down about 50Lbs from last year and VERY HAPPY with where I am.

GREAT JOB everyone else... KEEP up the good work.

Gggrrr. Up again and it's all mental. If I eat 1 thing that isn't on my meal plan, I give up for the day and just go hog wild. yet, if I stay strong and don't even start on the 'un-loggable' cr*p, I do SO well.

Ah, if only I wasn't such a piggy, life would be so much easier. Frown

Hi team!

Time for the weekly weigh in:

Last week: 175
This week: 171.4 (yeah!)

What made the difference this week was portion control, portion control, portion control. Then lots of whole grains, veggies, lean meat and and cutting back on sugar. I gave up my two trigger foods...chocolate and cookies!!!! If I have just a bit of chocolate, I MUST have more, then it turns into, oh look, a king size bar of (you name it) is gone...well guess I should move on to cookies...then that turns into oh, one more wont hurt! six cookies later..GUILT!

So I cut cookies and chocolate out completely! and have switched to one sweet treat per day..either fruit or one small cup of rice pudding :-) Hopefully I can keep up with this :-)

I used to do the same thing. But when I screw up once now from my plan. I stop look at it and recover quick. I can't look at anything now and not think "How hard am I going to have to swim, bike, run, to burn off this excess crap" It's just easier to not eat it then it is to work it off.

Everytime you go off kilter and want to continue. Just ask yourself what is easier. To skip that 180 calorie Chocolate bar, or to eat it and have to run for 20 mins just to burn off the chocolate bar before you even get into burning off excess fat.

I think about that on my runs some times. I get like 20 mins in and think hmmmm my workout to burn fat would JUST be starting right here had I ate such and such.....

Just a thought on how I look at stuff.

Help!! So I have cut out my two trigger foods, chocolate and cookies...but I miss my treats :-( Pathetic, I know but I cant help it. To gently wean myself off the "hard stuff" I have switched to fruits for my dessert after lunch/dinner. But my problem is I miss the texture of the cookies and chocolate (usually I have something like crunch, kit kat or twix). So I need something thats crunchy but healthy. So does anyone know of a healthy option that can give me that crunchy texture??? Thanks for your help.

I don't know how healthy they are (should be better than cookies or chocolate), are Rice Cakes.
http://www.quakeroats.com/products/rice-snacks/rice-cakes/apple-cinnamon.aspx
There's a link to some Quaker Oats branded ones. They would have that "Crunch" that your looking for.
