Subject: Buying a road bike in Memphis TN
Hello everyone!

I’m making a trip to Memphis TN and I will take the opportunity to buy my first road bike there.

I was deciding between a Specialized Dolce and a Bianchi Via Nirone. I’m going for the Bianchi because it seems it will fit me best, but now I need to find a shop in Memphis that sells Bianchi bikes and somewhere I can have a proper fit. If it is in the same place it would be wonderful!

One of the treads in this forum highly recommends Bike World, but it’s no longer in internet. Could anyone advice where I can buy a Bianchi and have a good fit done in Memphis TN? I would appreciate your guidance.

Thank you!

An enthusiastic beginner writing from Mexico.

Hope he doesn't mind me throwing him out there, but look up "jford2309".  He is from that area and might know some bike shops.

There are three places I would look at. One would be RB's Cyclery. Those guys are great to work with and can help you find the right bike and fit it to you. Second place would be Bikes Plus, and then the Peddler.

Also there is a shop in Jonesboro AR that is great. It is about 75 minute drive outside Memphis, but it is where I get alot of my stuff. It is called Gearhead Outfitters.

PM me if you want or need more info.

Thank you both!  I will look for those shops and get in touch with them.  I guess Bike World didn’t make it through the recession.  It’s a pity…

Have a great day!

Thank you mylissahorrocks!  Did you buy your bike there?

I just checked the map and Bike World is very far from Union Ave. where I'll be staying.

Bike World are very good people.  Vhad, the owner, is a triathlete.  I mainly use Bikes Plus now, but only because it is a little closer to where I live.  RB's, Bike World and Bikes Plus will be a bit of a drive from Union Ave.  There is a Peddler Bike Shop on Highland, but they are a Trek store.Bikes Plus and Bike World are Specialized.  Bike World also carries Felt and Cervelo while Bikes Plus has Giant, Fuji and Pinarello.

Thank you for all the info.  I looked up all the shops, and I realize that I’m going to have to spend some money on transportation because I don’t really want to buy a Trek. I've contacted Bike World and Bikes Plus.

Thanks!

Hi
I have to say to stay away from r&B I went there a few times and found the owner quite rude and not helpful. I have not been back since. But then again I am only one person so someone else might fare better.

I do agree with wes store though.

x2 on this order.  RB's is great and friendly.  Bikes Plus has a great selection but they tend to be less helpful and The Peddler just depends on who is working that day as to the level of help.

It seems that people either love or hate R&B.  I’ve read both opinions in this forum.

Thanks!  Smile

The only store that carries Bianchi is Outdoors Inc.  Does anyone know if this a different kind of store?  There’s one right on Union Ave.

Thanks!

Outdoors Inc is more of an outdoor type store than a Tri specific store. THey have alot more hiking and canoe type of stuff or mtn biking stuff than they do tri and road bike stuff. Great store though, been there many of times!
