You can go here on his blog for the breakdown of workouts by week. I started last week- if anything my thighs are going to be huge!  And hopefully I'll get a little faster

I realize this is an old post but the link to Jorge's blog is no longer there and the BT link has been stale since 04-11

I too am interested in Jorge's winter plan if it's still available.

Here's a new link that will take you to the plan on his new blog page.  I think I finally have a base that will let me do the plan this year.  Hopefully, Jorge will start up a thread like he has in previous years:

Awesome!!!

I did computrainer at a local shop last winter and had no improvement. I'm not sure if it was a bad plan or the marathon training I was doing at the same time. BUt, I'm looking forward to giving this a shot this off season!

For those not training much right now, it would be a good idea to ride 2-3x week at an easy/steady pace (~z2) for 45-60 min each at least for 3-4 weeks to get the legs ready. As you feel you get into the groove add some "spin ups" or hard efforts. Once the program starts, there is testing done right off the bat so it is better to get some training under your legs first.

get to work people!

What race distance is this program for, IM, HIM, OLY?  Is it adaptable to shorter distances?

Thanks!

Yes, to all of the above.  It improves both your VO2 Max and Critical Power.

I'm so looking forward to the 6x4' workouts from hell!!!

Ah, yessir. Bring it on! After marathon season though, please

I have bike-itis - my idea of a hot Friday night was to disassemble and clean the cassette and chain. With half a bottle of wine though.

Awesome, Austin is my last tri for the year, taking a couple of weeks to rest up and then will be ready to go.  Moving up to the next AG and around here the next AG is very competitive.

Thanks!

Increasing your Critical Power is closely related to your maximum lactate steady state (MLSS) which is simply the highest level of exercise we can manage while maintaining a steady concentration of lactate in the blood. If you go harder than that you will end up having to stop sometime in the future and below, you can exercise longer periods of times.

Many physiological processes occur around MLSS but the beauty of it is that it can help us predict performance, model training programs and track other things (i.e. fueling). Any endurance athlete from sprint to IM should focus at increasing their pace/power near MLSS. If you do AND if you do specific training for your main event (i.e. long steady state effort for IM or tempo for 70.3), you will almost certainly outperform your competition.

So yes, it is useful for any triathlon distance.
