Greetings all! Just wondering if anyone has done this race and what they thought of it. My wife and I are looking at doing it this year....if its not sold out yet!
  Any info that you could pass along would be great! Thanks!

It's an awesome fun race. I may be biased because I did so well at it (relatively speaking). Multisport events are pretty fun and laid back to begin with, and that setting and course is super fun. There are a few race reports to check out here too.

The steamship start is the Gravenhurst race, not Bracebridge.

Doh! I was talking about Gravenhurst with the steamboat. I haven't done the Bracebridge one yet.

Gravenhurst = steamship on lake
Bracebridge = river swim

I did Gravenhurst sprint in 2007. It was a blast. The ship steamed far out into the lake and then the Cap't came down in a pirate hat and eye patch and said, "Arghhh, time to walk the plank". We all had to jump into the lake one-by-one (its about a 2 meter drop). You swim up to the start line bouy and tread water for a while. Then the gun goes off and we all swim. It was a straight swim to shore.
It was a very unique way to start a Tri.

Its not likely to be sold out - I'd guess it won't be till spring... I'm not even sure registration has opened yet.

The bike ride is through beautiful Muskoka countryside, some rolling hills but nothing alpine. The pavement was a little rough at times but nothing extraordinary. I think the run was beautiful but by the time I get to the run I am reduced to a wheezing, slobbering mess and can't remember details.

Yeppers, although last year (at least on the sprint) we were ejected from the lower deck. There was no big jump.
