I have.  It returned a half dozen times but I talked the Doc into giving me some big syringes and would drain it myself when it came back and became painful.  It's been gone for several years now.

So you had a lot of pain that went away after getting it drained? I know I also have mild to moderate posterior tibial tendonitus(as it said on my MRI)... but this annoying sharp stabbing pain I have a feeling is coming from the cyst.

Yea, draining it will give you some relief from that ice pick in your ankle.

The one I had to deal with wasn't in my leg, it was in my wrist and made using my hand almost impossible. I never had it drained, I had to have it surgically removed. It took a few months to recover fully, but I'm really glad I had the procedure done.

I get them in the wrist as well. Never had it removed thus far (the one time I had a doc appointment, the day before the visit it was gone). They come and go, but luckily it's not in my ankle.

Not myself, but had a friend in college who was very into weight training and had one on the back of his wrist. He had to have it drained about every 3 years, but afterwards there was no pain and he was pretty much back to 100% in very short order.

Went to the podiatrist.. he said he highly doubts its the cyst thats causing me pain... but he thinks its tendonitus. He gave me a shot of anti inflamitory(not cortozone), wrapped me up and sent me on my way. I hope this works!

I hope you heal fast, injurys s#ck, however, I found relief when the one on my wrist was drained. It did come back but hasn't caused me any problems yet..just food for thought.

Had one on my foot as well.  Caused some pain and had it surgically removed.  Big pain in the rear healing up but definitely worth it.   Has been 3+ years and no sign of it returning.

I used to get them in my wrist.  I had it drained twice.  The next time I got one I just left it.  It ended up bursting on its own.  I has never came back.  I think that was about 9 years ago.   I was told by an old time doc that people used to slam a book on them to make them burst.  I would not recomend that.

That is where the term "Bible Busters" came from....  old-timers used to break the cyst shell with a Bible when they were on the back of yer hand.. Had one in my wrist joint years ago.. Had to have a needle aspiration twice and that was it... all gone..
