Overall Rank = 51/51
Age Group = 36-40
Age Group Rank = 2/2
Pre-race routine:

First one ever, so no routine yet. Overfuel, show up plenty early.
Event warmup:

Shiver while standing in transition, as I'm the only one without a warmup suit, and it's a chilly start to the day.
Swim
  • 07m 8s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Seeded myself well, as I was passed by only two. The person right behind me, at the halfway mark, and someone from way back who was sorely mis-seeded and passed a number of us.
What would you do differently?:

be smaller and faster
Transition 1
  • 04m 14s
Comments:

A long T1, but my first ever. Left sandals outside the pool area to run across parking lot in, so that took time.
What would you do differently?:

Everything. First time out.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 52s
  • 12.35 miles
  • 9.28 mile/hr
Comments:

I hadn't even ridden 60 miles in training before this, and the one hill was an absolute beast. I walked the bike over the top. I was not the only one who had to do so. A month later, I would be 10x better on this course, but I was quite happy to finish.
What would you do differently?:

everything
Transition 2
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

Just happy to still be moving. Took my time in T2, fumbled with garmin somewhat. Added mp3 player to get me moving for the last push.
What would you do differently?:

Handle garmin better. Not use mp3 player. Run.
Run
  • 53m 41s
  • 3.06 miles
  • 17m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I was just happy to know I would finish this thing, 4 months ahead of schedule, I was slow as always, and did have to Gallo-walk a couple of times. Meh.
What would you do differently?:

Be lighter and faster
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around parking lot with my very happy family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall fitness, training, and weight.

Event comments:

Very low key event, only the second year. Small field, with range in fitness from my very low end, to a very high USAT AG ranker. Pre-race questions and concerns were answered quickly and addressed fully. Nice folks at Danville.
