Who's racing in the Oilman Tri (formerly Ironstar) in November?  Or contemplating signing up for it?

I'll be there.  Fun, fast race.  The Sushi bar at the resort was really good too.

I'd love to do this one, since I heard great things about it last year.  But, it's the same weekend as the NYC marathon and that's where I'll be!!!

I am on the fence, but I did do the last 2 races.  I will be there raceing or voluntering since it is only 10 miles from my house.  I may try to get my wife invloved and let her run the 1/2 as a relay.  I think it will hep her get into gear since she will be running her first marathon in March.

Hereforalaugh,

I agree with you there, I learned to wear a wetsuit and ride/run more hills!  I dropped 45 minutes from my Ironstar time in my 1/2 IM I completed a month ago.

Brad

I learned that I should keep my wetsuit on during the bike...

Exactly, keep the wetsuit on until about the 1/2 way turnaround on the bike, it started warming up around then..

Very seriously thinking about it.  My in-laws live very close so it provides a great excuse to make the trip.

You and me both Aron. Had a great time last year even with a stress fracture but wouldn't do it hurt again. Hoping we both stay healthy. One of the many nice things about a smaller race is you don't have to decide 9 months in advance.

Come on Jeff!!!  Who else is going to escort me on the recon ride to make sure I don't get lost?!?

Hopefully I can catch you sometime this year to say hello.  I still don't know how I missed you at IMTX.

I really want to do this race because it is close to my in-laws and I have heard it is a good one, but I will be at IMFL as a stripper and rooting on my training partner.  Have a great race!

ha!  Still going to be going up to Montgomery a lot this summer.  I'll drop you an email when we start so you guys can join us. And hopefully it won't be freezing like last year! Dave is doing Oilman so I need to pay him back for all the rides he did for IMTX training!

I'd like to do  the race but have Rev3 70.3 in Sept, followed by Redman 70.3, and then the Rev3 Anderson SC race in October.  Pretty sure I will be burned out by the time Nov and Oilman rolls around!

You been getting any swimming in?

I've always wanted to do this race but the timing never seems to workout right. I will probably be swim sponsor again so I will be there, but coming off a full less than a month before. Maybe I can fill in a relay if I can't do the whole thing. Of course, if it's as cold as it was last year I won't get near that water.

TJ, it's okay to say "having doen Kona less than a month before."  We understand if you want to slip that in there periodically!

The water was the warmest part of the day last year!  I'll be doing Longhorn in October, so with Oilman only two weeks later I may not be 100%, but it's too much fun to pass up.

haha I'll work on that. I feels like it's too brash and annoying. "Hey everyone I'M GOING TO KONA a few weeks before your race. If I can recover FROM MY RACE IN KONA I might want to join in, but I could be too sore from DOING THE IRONMAN IN KONA, HAWAII".

I think you're right about the water being the warmest part. I can't imagine getting on the bike in that weather. I couldn't keep warm that morning with a huge coat and winter gloves. forget about being soaking wet riding a bike in that. brrrrrrr.

I'm doing it! Sounds like it will be cold, but will be a nice change from the heat in Galveston at my first HIM.

Galveston was hot!  IMTX was pretty bad also.  I am ready for some cooler runs!!!  I guess that is what we get for living in Texas!
