Subject: Thank you BT posters...first tri in the "Books" Just wanted to thank everyone over the months who have directly and indirectly gave me advice regarding training /equipment etc. This info helped to make my first tri go reasonably smooth. Completed my first tri today, 2:41 , finished 241 out of 600+, 32/62 in age group Did a oly tri today (you can read my race report) and eventhough I made some navigation errors in a very choppy/ high current OWS, I fought may way through it. Like many, 8 months ago I started training the swim and felt prepared. No freak out/panic, actually I was quite calm even though it was chaotic at the start (but I guess when is it not) and I was guzzling water on the outward leg. If I had a gps in my cap it probably would have looked like and EKG report. Thats why I usually can swim the distance in around 30, but I wasted alot of time!!! but without being over critical of myself, I am one of those guys who 8 months ago could barely do 50 m without sucking wind even though I had been a runner, now I can finish a mile in OW!!!. This was the most gratifying part of the day!! I had to deal with a lot of hills both on the bike and run so I missed my projected finish by 10 minutes, but I will not complain since it was my first. I loved the energy and cant wait for my HIM in october. I still have a lot of work to do before then. But I guess thats why we challenge ourselves thanks again, but I will be hitting you all up for more in fo as I look towards my HIM!!! |
