I''m in for my first 70.3 distance.  Can anyone speak to the hotel situation?  Is it worth the extra cash to stay at the breakers?  I am a Marriott member and mapquest says they have 1 about 4 miles away.  I haven't been able to get the cedar point hotel link to work - ever

I'm in for my first half as well!  We're also Mariott members--staying at the fairfield inn and suites (I think) about 5 miles away.  The husband's the logistics guy.  As long as he knows where we stay, I'm fine with that.  I have other things on my mind!!! **Panic**

Wife and I did the half last year. I am doing the half this year and she is doing the aquabike/half. Also have two friends coming with us to do the half.

I believe the hotel Breakers is worth it! You can roll out of bed, walk 100yds and be at the swim start. It was great on Friday and Saturday to pre swim also. We had a blast!

Marriot memebrs, ... hae no worries, everything will pretty much be a straight shot to the park.  Breakers does have its benefits but only if its the one in the park and not the Breakers express, thats a piece of junk!

Make sure to look for training days/ course previews.  Last year there were two or three hosted by the Cleveland Tri Club, actually road part of the course with the race director last year.

Hi Everyone!

The Cleveland Triathlon Club has the Rev3 Cedar Point preview days scheduled for July 23 and August 20.  The days will begin at 7AM with Check in and a short swim clinic presented by Liquid Lifestyles.  The ride will be your choice of a 58 mile loop or a 2 loop pass for 100 miles.  Much of the ride is on the actual CP course.

Check out our website for more info at www.clevetriclub.com.  We do request an RSVP for the days!

I just finished my first half yesterday in Muncie.  I am registered for the half at Cedar Point next.  Super pumped now that I have one behind me and know what to expect.

Can someone who has done this race before give me an idea of what to expect on the bike and run courses?  Are they hilly?  Lots of curves?  Training in Indiana means flat, flat, flat.  I would like to know if I should be finding some hills.  Also, how bad is the wind?

Thanks!

I am in for the half!  :-)  This will be my 2nd half triathlon, 3rd long course race (I did Muncie half distance Aquabike back in 2009).

Wish that I could make it to the CTC training rides this year, but other plans have made that not possible this year.

What nutrition will be on the bike course? I am going to try to ride supported off of the course and would like to get in some time with the drink and flavor if possible.

Excited for this race for sure!  HIM #3 for me!

The roads are in much better shape this year.  Still a little rough due to being chip and seal, but nothing like last year.  It looks like the bike course might change a bit.  There is road construction heading into Huron.  Rev3 is aware and making an alternate route, just to be on the safe side.

Rev3 got rid of Cera sport, thankfully.  I believe it is gatorade on the course.

Check PBnutrition latest tweet. $10 off Gatorade Endurance which is what REV3 is using! http://twitter.com/#!/PBNutrition  It asked for a referral name. Please put me down. [email protected].

So I am trying to reserve my room and I realize that I am going to be paying more for the room than the race price just for me.  :-(

Since I am travelling solo the appeal of staying at the Breakers is awesome for logistics, but... it is really expensive for me.

Local people - where is a close place to stay that would be easy for a solo person to navigate through on race day?  Or... should I just suck it up and pay the $$ for Breakers?

I'm 99% sure I'll be racing! This will be my 17th half ironman, but my first 'Rev3' event. Looking forward to it, especially since Steelhead turned into a Bike-Run!

Has anyone ridden the course recently? How is the chip-seal doing? I know around here, they put up a lot of that crap around the same time they did in Ohio. The tire tracks on the road are now fine for riding, but the shoulders are all still awful and full of gravel. For the Rev3 course, are most people going to be riding to the left or the right of the white (fog) line? I'm asking because it will determine what tire pressure I ride at....sorry to be so nit picky

I'm thinking about booking a motel outside of Cedar Point. If I do will my family have the same access to the race course and transition area as people staying in Cedar Point, or would they need to buy day passes for the park for full access?

Can someone confirm what is used at aid stations. I realize they have switched to Gatorade this year, but is it regular or Endurance Formula? Also I'm wondering what flavors. I seem fine with lemon-lime GEF but have had problems racing with orange.

Thanks

jazz

My experience last year was that most everyone ( including myself ) were left of the white line the whole ride. No shoulder stuff here that I saw.

Cya at the Half (dont lap me....especially since it is single loop for each phase)

I can't believe this race is less than 3 weeks away.  My life has been crazy and I'm afraid I have been slacking on my swimming.  I know I'll be fine though.  2nd HIM for me (2nd this year for that matter), so I don't have any grand time expectations.
