Subject: Where to swim open water near Memphis

Sorry to have to start a new thread but I couldn't figure out how to search these forums. :?  I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times.

Does anyone know where we could find some open water to train in near the Bartlett area. Everything we've look at seems to be off limits. Some have  said Garner lake but from what I read it is restricted to residents only.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

MZE

There is a guy named the Manatee that allows anyone to use his backyard/lake dock to swim. He has some rules for safety, but other than that, his back yard is open daily for training. If you will send me a PM with your email, I will talk to Dave and make sure you are on his email list about swimming in the lake.

Me and 2 other guys usually meet at his place every Thursday at 5pm after work to swim. You are more than welcome to join us anytime.

I liked it more when James called him the Manatee.  Reminds me of Pulp Fiction.

Jules: You sending the Wolf?
Marsellus: Oh, you feel better now,...?
Jules: ...that's all you had to say.

Actually he is too fast to be called a Manatee anymore. He needs a new nickname!

Hey everyone,

Time to revive this thread. My name is Phil, and I too am interested in some OWS practice around the Memphis area (maybe it is the 70+ temps in Feb!). Keep me in the loop as much as possible. I am looking forward to the 2012 season. Peace.

Usually around late April, the water is warm enough to swim in a wetsuit, but with this weather, it might be earlier. I will try to remember to PM you!

The Lakeland swims are not as open as they once were.  HOA crack down.  I wish I could help you out more.
