All,

Noticed that this link had not been created yet.  Not sure how that happened.  Despite having to defer the '10 race, I did find the thread useful for people to share tips, tricks and training.  I know there is one under the IM Race thread, but here is one now for use that should be directly posted in your training folder.

As for me,  I have been waiting to do my first IM for 3 years now (had to defer '09, '10 for military reasons), now its 16 weeks to '11 and I find that I am probably not where I need to be in order to race like I have wanted to.  Would be a shame to DNF after three years of planning.  (note I didn't say three years of training...)

Recently started the BT Beginner IM plan to try and help organize and motivate myself to make a passable showing and not embarrass myself in panama city.

Thanks for starting this thread. I've been keeping up on the other thread. This will be my first IM and now into my 8th week of training. Has been really going great. I usually am really bad at sticking to a plan but I guess this daunting race will keep me in check.  Just did my first 3 hour ride since last year when I was doing the HIM training. Cant wait to meet everyone in Fl!!

Shed 40 pounds training for this event.  I am praying that my wetsuit is not going to be too big and bring in water!!!

One more weekend then...  Happy Taper Everyone!

YEA!  No injuries feeling great.  First Ironman, First day being 51.

Can't wait.

I just signed up for 2012.  And I just entered this as a race.  This link popped up.  Shall we use it as the official link?

I'm not sure how to change it to another link anyway.

Let the training begin!

I'm in again, did it in 2010.  Looking forward to another crack at it!

Since we had to change the date to add it to our logs, I am guessing the wizzards here on BT haven't seperated the 2 years.  I don't know if it will create a new thread when they do or not.  Surprised though that there wasn't more prior conversations from this years participants on here.

Ok. Operating under the assumption that this is the thread for IM FL 2012, I am in! Thinking about training for and doing a marathon in April as preparation. Did the Gulf Coast half in May, not sure how to approach this journey yet. Looking for support. Thank you!

Bill, sounds like a good idea to me, but what do I know.   There's plenty of time between an April mary and IMFL to recover, so what the heck?

Alright folks, I drank the Kool Aid again. I'm in for Ironman Florida 2012! This will (hopefully) my third Ironman after Arizona 2009 and Ironman Texas 2010.

Excited already! Smile

Woop woop!

I've got a marathon in Feb and a 15k in March - calendar is clear after that. I did a 70.3 this year, but I'm thinking of sticking to Olys next season.

I really need to get better at swimming...

At noon I was running my first HIM, so a friend signed up for me. After finish, I checked the IMFL around 1 PM and it was sold out. Any one knows how long did it last before closed?

I signed up right at 1 PM(EST).  Had a friend try to sign up about 20 minutes later and it was closed.  I guess we got lucky.  This is my first IM and I've been excited and nervous all day.  Going to do the Fla 70.3 in May and not sure other than that.  Thinking about getting some online coaching from here on BT.  Anybody have any other suggestions about coaching?

I signed-up right at 1pm too and got in.  It'll be my first IM...I'm very excited, but cognizant that the race isn't to be triffled with.  It'll be a long day for me, that's for sure, so I guess I need to start thinking about a plan too.

BTW, did anybody else think some of those *required questions were weird?

I used the Beginner Half IM Plan for Gulf Coast this year, it was a good plan finished in 6:20. I am planning on the using the Beginner Full IM Plan for IMFL. It is great to have the support of others using the same plan!

Yeah, the questions were a bit much, I answered "none" as much as possible to get through it quickly. Got in right at 12:00 CDT!

This will be this 52 year olds first IM!!

Not sure how this ended up as the 2012 thread, but ok.  Having just finished 2011 (which was AWESOME!) I have a question:  Is there anyplace to buy finisher gear other than the missed opportunity at the circus that was the big tent?

Thanks  (and no I'm not doing 2012...I need a break and let the glow of my first time sustain me a while....)
