I am doing Sprint again.

It's funny to be going to various races in the area and keep running into people with Steelman transition bags or in Steelman sweatshirts.

I'll be at the Sprint again this year. My training has been pitiful this year, but they always put on a great race, with great premiums.

That's funny you mention this. I have run into this many times and quite a distance from this area. That is still the best give away ever! Always a great discussion point with total strangers.

I didnt do the race they gave away the transition bags.  I saw they still had them leftover at the expo last year, so I bought one.  $35.  Seriously?  Its a rediculously awesome transition bag!

Jorgito22 - 2011-07-28 8:45 PM Also anyone interested in trying to meet up on saturday before race to ride bike course?

The course is the worlds easiest course. Ride from the parking lot to the road (OK, the uphill is a little challenging). At the closed road, ride 3 miles to the right. Turn around at the place (I think there is a bridge) with the cop cars blocking the road. Go 6 miles the other way. Turn around at the cop cars (where the road joins the highway) and go 3 miles back. Repeat if doing the oly.

As I recall, there is a slight uphill on either end of the course, nothing really challenging (and I hate hills). Seriously, best bike course of any race I have ever done, since the roads are closed, the course is very straightforward and not technically challenging either. So it really comes down to how fast you can go, with no need to overthink it.

Last year, the Athlete Note showed up about Wednesday the week of the race.  Don't sweat it.  There won't be much change.  Last year there were some minor changes to the bike course, but it is very well marked and easy to navigate.

Got an email last night saying to read the 2010 athlete note. The new one should be out today. As for the bike course it basically comes down to how fast can you go. No technical stuff and basically no climbing. Spin till you puke!

I'm not sure I characterize it the same way you have. The road through the park twists, turns, and climbs out to 563, and 563 isn't exactly flat.

I would not classify the course as flat.  With the exception of the descent back into the park, it is certainly not technical.  The core of the course is rolling up and down hills.  No major climbs or descents, but not classic flat triathlon style.  It is flat by PA standards though.

x2 - I think it is pretty much as flat as 12 miles gets in PA.

I can spin the whole course in my big ring. I call that flat. It's not Florida flat but it is PA flat.
