We are introducing a new form of endurance races and Pennsylvania has our largest number or races (8). Our concept is to layout a series of races courses that athletes run on their own, on the day of their choice. The athletes then submit their results to a database that creates rankings for their Race. Athletes that submit GPS substantiation for their performance get ranked ahead of non-substantiated submissions.

We are a group of friends/athletes from the US North East that dreamed up this “Challenge Style” racing series concept. We started this as a fun project that would spice up our training. We each designed a few race courses in places we are familiar with and documented them in detail. We then built a Race Series website called ViralRacing.com where we have published all the races as “Race Packets”. Finally, we built a database that takes in results and builds a full set of rankings per race and across the series. It has been fun dreaming this concept up and we are lucky to have some technical folks in on the process.

Our goal is to make the races truly competitive with measurable and comparable results. Please take a look at the website and if one of the races is near enough to you… please take the challenge and do the race. It should be a fun way to challenge your friends to a race with no expense and no excuses. It can also be a way to spice up your workout routine at the same time.

This is not a money making venture, rather, it is just a fun contribution to our endurance community from a few guys in the Northeast. You will see some Google Ads on the site…. they are only there to recover the small amount of money we have spent setting the site up. We are donating our time to maintain the site and do the scoring.

Highlights:
Current Race locations:
SE Pennsylvania (8)
New York City (3)
New Jersey, Avalon (1)
Vermont, Middlebury (1)
Maine, Midcoast Region (2)
New Hampshire, Mt Washington (1)

Race Styles:
Triathlons (4)
Duathlons (2)
Runs (5)
Cycling TT’s (4)
Bike/Run Bricks (2)
Point 2 Point Adventure (1)

Rankings supported by our database:
Overall
Gender Overall
5 Year Gender Age Groups
Internal Club Rankings
(Friends that submit the same club name, will have your own mini rankings)
Individual Points for the Series
Club Points per Race
Club Points for the Series

Using this forum post, please share your thoughts on our concept, our courses, your race experiences if you do one of the races and challenge your fellow BT’rs to a specific race. We would greatly appreciate any feedback and hope to improve the concept with the thoughts and input from a wider participating audience.

Thanks for your time! Hope your racing season is going well!

This sounds like a blast but since I dont have an actual GPS device such as a garmin and I use my Android phone to record distance and time is there a way to submit results?

All we need is a link to a GPS data collection website with your data. Phone apps are a good way to record your activity and get the GPS data. If you are looking for a recommendation, we have recently had submissions using Strava.com. I have used it also. Stava has a free Andriod app that works well (very stable and auto loads to their website when you save it). If you consider yourself a cyclist, Strava is worth getting to know even if you don't do one of our races.

Hope to see your results soon.
