Sunny
Total Time = 1h 10m 26s
Overall Rank = 33/300
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/24
Pre-race routine:

Got up around 4:30 consume a banana and 6 oz. of Greek yogurt. Loaded up and drove downtown about a 25 minute drive, sipped on water on the way.
Event warmup:

Parked several blocks away from the race sight, rode bike in to transition. Did some light stretching and talked to friends.
Swim
  • 09m 11s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall a decent swim, had problems getting in the water and out of the water due to the water level being low so there was some rocks to deal with.
What would you do differently?:

Keep my form better, felt like I got a little to fast on stroke instead of really focusing on my pull.
Transition 1
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Felt like this was a decent time with the run up the boat ramp, then getting bike a running back into swim traffic to get to the bike out.Ranked 2 out of 24..
What would you do differently?:

Get there early for a better spot because it was first come first serve at transition and this was not mention by the race organization.
Bike
  • 33m 34s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 22.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a great bike leg considering I had someone drafting off my rear wheel.(ugh) I never got passed which was cool and I passed a ton of people, just kept picking them off one by one.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to work, so I can maintain a great pace and still have legs to run on.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Was able to get in and out without any problems. 4th out of 24..
What would you do differently?:

Learn to dismount off a moving bike..
Run
  • 25m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Still need to be able to have pop in the legs so I can bring my pace down. I was able to run negative splits so that was a bonus. This is where I lost my chances of being on the podium because it sets up for the fast runners.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to work on my bricks and speed work.Have got to get quicker to be able to place, hopefully it will come in time.
Post race
Warm down:

Took some fluids in with recoverite, some light stretching then hung out with friends to wait for the awards ceremony.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall did good considering I was in a build period for my HIM in September. Didn't taper for the race so I wasn't as fresh as others..

Event comments:

Overall I had a good race, this was the first annual event so there are some improvements to be made which I know they are open for suggestions. I will do this race again next year and try to smoke my time.
