Definately interested, but will not be a first adopter.  The price point is about what I expected as well despite their early claims of a sub $1k system.

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed... I was really hoping for availability this fall, and at a lower price point. I'm still curious to see what the final details will be. It's not entirely clear to me if the quoted price is for pedals alone, or pedals + head unit - that will make a difference. I would also like to see details on cost for replacement parts (say you crash and wipe out a pedal, for instance...). I was excited about the possibilities, but I'm feeling a little let down by the reality...

I'm not going to stand in line and hold my breath for eight months until the tentative release date gets here, but once it's released and debugged and the price settles down a bit and the reviews are in and my power tap wears out, then, yeah, I might be interested. Provided nothing better comes out in the meantime.

my thoughts exactly.  I've got around 7000 miles on my powertap since I got it last June.  I have only had to change the batteries once, but I presume it will last for a while, but not forever.

I also realize that there are a handful of other companies entering the power meter market.  Competition is good for the consumer...but I don't think we'll see the benefits till about 2014-15 when I expect to see about 5-8 established and reliable power meter options.  I would imagine that R&D costs are very high, so it will be a few years before I expect to see multiple power meter options under $1k brand new.

For those itching to get a power meter at low cost...a used or even brand new PT is still your best option.

I'd much rather get a quarq than be a beta tester for the same price...

I would have been very tempted had the pedals been Speedplay, as originally intended.

Would have been a done deal for me.

Not with Look though...........guess I will stick with my Powertap.

I'm curious why that is.  What is the difference between the two pedals?  Sorry for the hijack.

Would be interested in the $500-700 range.

Power Tap is coming down in price and is a better solution for me.

Different pedal style. The speedplay is a lot smaller and most of the "base" is on the cleat itself

Much as said above....

Disappointed in the price point (especially after some of the early hype) and the fact that it's not on a Speedplay pedal platform.

Can't imagine the head unit is included.  I have questions about exactly what the factory calibration entails (will you need to re-calibrate or adjust?) and also about durability.  Pedals and cleats can take a bashing.

Will be taking a "watching brief" once they are finally available.

Disappointed in MSRP.  We'll see where things settle out in the marketplace.  Tend to agree that PT likely to remain most riders' best option for a while longer.  And I like Look pedals.

Saw on the facebook post that it would be compatible with the Garmin 800, would the 310xt work as well?

It will be interesting to see if anyone replaces there Powertap with one.  It might drive the used market prices down faster than the new.

As for pedal choice, I suspect that if these are successful they might look at adapting them for other pedals.  Doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.

I'm currently without power... and probably will be till it costs less than my bike.  that means either the price of the power meter has to come way down, or the price of my bike needs to go way up.

Not that it was necessarily ever in my budget, I was interested in the pedal platform - but the price is too high.  I'll stick with my wired PT for a few years to come.  Garmin had a great opportunity to gobble up a big part of the market, so it will be interesting to see what they actually do once sales start to roll in.

Im interested. Ive looked at quarq and theyre proven but i do like garmin. Its pretty tough to go against quarq after theyve done so well. Also powertap is much cheaper but then i would need to build a new wheel.Too many choices......and not enough money. But i definitely dont want to be the guinea pig.

I'll probably pick one up about 6 months after it's released. I'm glad it's Look Keo compatible - as it's already the pedal system I use.
