I have been looking at the renn 555 and used zipp 900 discs. It will be going on my argon 18 e-112. Not sure what is better for my frame the flat disc or the toroidal disc. It will be paired up with a zipp 808 on the front.

I don't think the Zipp is $1000 (new) or $500 (used) better than the Renn. Neither is $400 better than an aero cover, IMHO.

True, but the whoosh whoosh may be worth $400.

That said, they are both flat discs, so aerodynamics are basically moot (unless you believe Zipp's dimpling), and so it's down to the qualities of the discs. I believe the Zipp is lighter and stiffer - but weight doesn't matter in a tri and the stiffness can be a downside.

The Zipp looks cooler.

Have never ridden the Zipp 900, but just as an FYI I ride a Renn 555 disc with a zipp 808 on the front and love the setup.  I have no plans on changing.  I am 160lbs and usually manage a top 5 AG bike split in an olympic, and have had no issues with the flex of the Renn disc.  The Zipp is probably stiffer, but in my case, not sure that the stiffness is needed.  Oh, and did I mention that Renn customer service is A+, atleast this has been my experience.

Gotta side with the Renn also. I have a 575 in the 650 size, my second one (flat-spotted the first one), and though I bought a second used one while waiting on shipping and a decision on whether it could be repaired, Frank offered me a lifetime discount replacement disk, even though I'd bought the first one used as well. So basically I can buy a discounted disk at any time in the future, if I decide I need it.
