I know some folks here are doing it. My wife and I will arrive on Friday night. We're planning on playing golf on Saturday and then dinner that night. Anyone interested in getting together? We'll be staying at the resort.

Be careful playing golf the day before your race. Take a cart, dont stay in the sun too long. I wouldn't play, I'd rest as much as possible. I stayed in the room all afternoon, watched tv, and got all my stuff ready. Just my opinion.

Did I ask for your opinion!?! I don't think so!

Seriously, though. The cart is a must. If the temp is anything higher than mid-80's, we won't be going. I also plan on only going if we can get a tee time in the morning. That way, we're done around lunch and I can rest/nap/hang out/prepare the rest of the day.

I haven't decided yet. I've been signed up for atleast a month but.... Mentally I can't get myself prepared for this. Plus my hip/glute has been injured. I was sort of training up until the last week, which I ended up taking off due to family issues. We have a practice tri on the schedule for this weekend so I'll see how I feel after that. I might see if I can change to a relay.

Ugh, help me get motivated for this race!

There's no way you can tell me that you don't want to come to this race!  A field of 800 is huge for a race this young.  There's going to be some great competition out there too.  I'm not sure, but I think that Ahmed Zaher will be racing (one of the race organizers in my area) and he's the reigning U.S. Half-Ironman champion in his age group.  I've seen him win sprints and olys without even exerting himself, so I can't wait to see him clean up at his primary race distance!

It's not that I don't want to come to the race, I just feel like I'm not prepared for the race! If I decide not to race I might still show up to cheer on my other friends that are racing.

I know there are more than just 3 (maybe) of us doing this race. Where's everyone else?

I hired a tri coach yesterday, and am pretty excited about having the benefit of a quality coach to get me ready for IM CDA next year.  The downside?  The coach told me NOT to do Iron Star...said it is too much too soon.  No final decision yet, but I am leaning towards skipping this one; my rebellious side is telling me to do it anyway...my practical side says don't ignore your new coach in the first month together.

I have to work that weekend (plus I'm not up to that distance yet), but I'll try to come cheer y'all on! Del Lago is quite pretty with lots of shade...y'all should be very happy with it.

Did somebody say something? I hear this persistent buzzing sound, but I can't really figure out what it is.

Who's Comet?

The buzzing is this sound I hear in the background. It's almost like somebody talking but I hear it all the damn time! I mean, it never, ever stops and I hear it everywhere.
When I'm in the Triathlon Talk forum, this one, My Cup of Joe, even on my training log pages. Surely if it was someone actually talking, they'd have to shut the hell up at least once in a while.

Get it now?

Okay I'm in for sure. I did a practice half last weekend and while I had some issues on the run (got over heated) the swim and bike were good. My original goal was to beat my half ironman time from July but that's not a good goal cause it's different courses including a slightly longer bike and hopefully the weather will be different! My new goal is to still finish under 6 hours but also to run the whole run (only walking at the water stops). It sounds funny to say run the whole run because running is my best/easiest of the 3 sports.

I'll see you on the course! Seriously I ran into Dennis at CapTex Tri so it is possibly to run into others.

I am registered, but the debate is still on if I will actually do the race. The parents house is only ten miles from the starting line, will most likely be in the neighborhood.

Party at Courtney's house?? PM directions

Getting together prior to the race would be good.
