Windsor ON here

Currently looking like Bluewater Tri in July, Windsor Tri in Aug, and maybe Steelhead 1/2 IM, or P'boro 1/2 IM

Lot of running this spring/summer/fall, so don't know if I can get enough cycling in to confidently do the 1/2....we'll see

Leamington Tomatoman - June 18

Toronto Waterfront - July 16

Sarnia Bluewater Oly - July

Windsor Tim Horton's - August

I'd really like to do a 1/2 Iron-distance late in the season if training goes okay.

Well like I said, it does depend on a few things, but ideally, this is what I'd like to do.  Up until this summer I have been competeing horses, which I will no doubt be missing, so I am trying to fill a huge void.  Plus I'm a student.. so life is pretty stress free and flexible at the moment.  Its kinda fun to be able to all these great things, while still getting an education..  being in school is my "excuse" to do a lot of stuff, trialthons being one of them.

Elly, I don't mean to burst your bubble but...I've got the Surbaru Tri series application form in fromt of me and I don't see a Belwood Sprint on it.

Edit: See you at the Guelph II sprint.

Jordan,

hmmm interesting.. are they not running it this year?  I was just on the website the other day and it was there.  Perhaps they have not updated the website.   Maybe I'll do the Parry Sound Aquathon July 29th instead.. or I could just save some money and not replace it at all.  Thanks for the info, and yes, I'll see you at Guelph II.

How many of you are members of OAT?  I am trying to get more information about the membership, cost and its benefits.  What do you think?

The response here has been tremendous - hopefully as the season approaches we can use the site to keep us on track for upcoming races, possibly meet at races and cheer each other on.

Happy training and here's hoping for a mild spring - I'm itching to put some miles on the bike!

Extremely newbie tri-er here. Needing a new challenge after running for the last few years, I decided to do a tri this year. Living downtown Toronto, I don't have a car and I'm not about to bike to Guelph to do a tri

Just signed up for the Toronto Waterfront - July 16

Thanks for the offer but I think that for my first tri, I'd like to stay in town. Less travel = less hassle and coordination until I decide if I really like it and want to stick with it

Plus, I'm cranky in the mornings so taking the extra time to travel to Guelph will just suck up a lot of energy I should save

While i didn't compete in toronto last year, if you have ever riden the route along commissioners, down leslie to Unwin and then over to cherry street you will know it is terrible to ride given the number of potholes, rough road, gravel and rail tracks. I understood they put something (carpet?) over the tracks last year, but I would try and get feedback from people who competed on the nature of the course. Also this year they have changed it to a time trial format rather than wave starts. For someone new at triathlons this might be helpful (no feeding frenzy at the beginning).
Good luck with your first season.

Salut!
Well im from Oakville and this will be my first season of racing. Never done a tri before, let alone any other type of racing sport. This June I plan to do my first Try-A-Tri in Milton. I believe it is on June the 4th. I may see if I can make it to the Guelph Lake II races (not sure which one, ill see how training goes)

We should compose a list of people who are attending what race and meet up. Though im only gonna be in the newb races, it would still be nice to meet some ppl from here.

Welcome to ontario tri racing. The subaru and HSBC websites are the two major race sponsors. The subaru site has some great information regarding your first race and what to expect. The HSBC site also has some good information and a very good lineup of races through the summer in southern Ontario.

For those of us who try and map out our runs and bike rides and never quite know the distances or elevation changes, I have found this great website that you can use to tell you the exact distance of your route. Once you go to the link just double click on toronto and start zooming in, from there you find your own home town and start mapping out your courses.

Hey great idea to see where the Ontario BT'ers are.

I'm planning on the following;

Ottawa 1/2 Marathon - May 26th

Milton Tri a Try - Great warm up for the season but for the love of god, please bring a wetsuit!

Guelph Lake - Sprint - Warm up for Peterbough. Cosnidering it open water swim practice.

Peterbourgh 1/2 IM - Hopefully I'll make the cut off times! Wooohooo! Lite it up!

Niagara Tri - Training race

Ottawa 1/2 IM (if the Peterbourgh doesn't either kill me or I have any wind left in the sails.)

Let the spring thaw begin!!!

Milton try-a-tri? That makes three of us.

Look for the guy who's jersey says Collingwood even though he's from Oakville .
