I'm not planning on doing it but I did it last year. So did Zakk.

Nice race. The water is a little murky. Make sure you do some hill training on the bike. Great party at the end with a live band.

I'll probably do it b/c it's <45 min from my house.

Last year I only signed up for Wildflower Olympic distance (why do they call it SHORT course?) because I wanted to see how it went before signing up for anything else. Luckily, there were still spots for SJIT available in early May.

Bailey hill is worth checking out before the ride. What got me more last year was the darned headwind.

Yes, very close and convenient (I am in South Bay also), it is quite a big race, and attracts a very competitive field. The only negative I have heard is that the water in Lake Almaden is murky. I have gone up Bailey a few times in training rides, it is a decent climb but it's not like going up to Skyline.

i'm now on the fence. the water does suck - it's pretty gross and i heard that it's really shallow (land bridge) around the island in the middle of the lake.

and there's that extra $9 b/c j&a didn't go with USAT, but this new NATA or whatever.

thoughts? recommendations for another olympic distance to do this summer (that's not already sold out!)?

Donner Lake Tri. it's as beautiful a course as you'll likely to find. but it's TOUGH to race at 6000' - 7000' ft elevation.

i might do it again this year.
