There isnt any word on wetsuits yet. They will not actually make that call until race day. They have not had wetsuits for the last 2 years, but it may be possible this year as it hasnt been REALLY hot yet and we have had a lot of rain. It was in the 60's here yesterday.

2weeks!!

Mike,

I'm doing Memphis with Team in Training and we were told this past Saturday that 78-84 deg is optional and cannot win awards and over 84 not allowed.  There have been years where the temp has been above 84 and suits were disallowed the morning of the race.  We're all preparing without suits just in case.

Paul

If wetsuits aren't allowed, can you still use Water Wings?

I am pumped!  I did my longest race this past weekend.

Crawfish Man -1,200 sw-20mi bk-4mi rn.

I hope I can finish MIM.  I have most of my family in Memphis, I am bringing two large shade tents and the family will have good recovery food, beer, water, gatorade and chairs for spectators.

Feel free to locate it for you friends and yourselves after your're finished.  You can wait there for me to finish hours later!

 Can't wait to meet everyone.

Congrats Chris! I just checked out your album - so you are into snowmobiling? Pretty cool! I grew up riding back East. I went out this winter for the first time in years...loved it!
Congrats again and I look forward to meeting you next weekend.

That is my pick as well, until they release the final start list. IF someone shows up from the USOTC, like Mark Fredder or Andy Potts then my money is on them.

I am going with Doug Friman.  Then again it would be just wrong for me to go against him since I am hosting him for the weekend.

I'll be over at around 7pm with my list of 20 questions for him. That is awesome you are hosting a pro. If I didn't have a house full of family!! Family........ or Pro...... tough call!

Go easy on these guys, will ya? They are just normal people with an expertise like all of us. They could probably pick your brains on family, IRA etc.

True......in all honesty we will just have a very quiet relaxing weekend and it should be fun. I am racing too and am a little too pre-oocupied to be asking questions. There is only one difference between us......they just go much faster!!!!

Well kind of. Speed is relative. They are slow compared to a normal swimmer or runner. They run 31-32 10k and for a top end runner that would be warm up pace. It's all how you look at it, I guess.

I look at that as fast and something I will never be!!!! I prefer the LSD any day of the week. My goal is to meet new people, and get in some serious exersize. Of course the good thing about being around pros is it does make you want to work harder and go faster.....

Or being around Pros could really demoralize you too. I am around them all the time here - DeBoom, Leigh, Simon, Lovato, - they are all normal people.

I think it would be fun and exciting to host a pro. Yes, they are normal people, but they are very good at what they do. This will be my longest race and I'm very new to the sport so even if I learn one thing from them it would be worth it.

I think it's cool you guys are opening your home to them...... Kudos!!

Do we have a meeting place for all the BTers on Saturday or is this thing not as organized as St A's?

Are we getting together before for dinner or after?

I am good with whatever.  Most had said they preferred Sunday so I was going to host that if everyone wanted to swing by.  I am sure on Saturday most will be at the expo or doing a practice swim that afternoon and Doug has a pro's meeting at 3-3:30 so I will still be out there after that.  We can do a pasta type dinner at my house or it may be better to just meet and go out for dinner somewhere as a group then all could order what they wanted.  let me know what you guys think.

I found the place where you can check to be sure you are signed up for the race.... my age group (at present) has 209 people in it.... that is alot.

This is going to be a big race for me in every aspect.... distance of course, venue, distance from home.

Should be an experience.

Is it sold out yet? or are people still signing up?

Oh and will they let me bring my milk crate into transition? I lug it around to all my races now. If they won't I need to get a tri bag of some kind to put my stuff in.

For whoever's in town, how about dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse on Saturday. I'll already be downtown for another event. After that, whoever would want to (you'd have to be insane) could got to Beale St. after that.
