I have  not, but know somenone who I would bet has, if no one else replies or you have no other options you can contact him.  I dont have his email address, but follow the link below and hit contact.  His name is John, he is the guy on the  left on the main page with the flag.  He is good about always answering any questions that I have when I see him either running or at the gym.

Edit, I just went there and hit the contact, it does not really give you an option to email him, sorry, I  should have checked that fist.  My bad!

Just signed up for the 50k "Not a fool" run...   Looks like a great time and fun trail.   Thanks for mentioning the race, I never would have found it otherwise.

I don't know anyone who has done this race but I am planning on signing up for the 50k. About two years ago my then-boyfriend-now-fiance and I did an overnight hiking trip in Croom which included the 16 loop used in the Fools Run & Not a Fool races.  It's a really cool area.  Mostly shaded.  A few little hills (by Florida standards) but mostly flat.  I seem to recall the trails were smooth and well maintained, although sandy in parts.

BTW, there is also a 50k & 100k on Jan 15th there, also put on by TampaRaces, called the Croom Zoom.  I think it uses different trails from the Fools Run.

Hi I've run the Fool race twice and just responded to your Ultra post a minute ago. It's a fantastic race and my favorite event of the year. Let me know if you have any specific questions. It's all single track, well shaded, a few small hills. The 50k is two loops of the 25k course and the 50 miler has an extra leg and an earlier start. If you run the 50 miler you will need a light as they start in the dark, the 50k/25k start after sunrise. It's a small race and I've found the people very friendly and the race well organized and supported. There are aid stations about every 4 miles. There is also a Croom Zoom on January 15th that starts at the same location, but runs on some different trails. It's a little flater and faster. Both are great runs. I'm registered for the Croom Zoom. There is a camp ground at Silver Lake a few miles away where I have stayed before and made it an extended family camping trip while 'crazy Dad' went trail running. There isn't much in the way of hotels in the area that I'm aware of, Brooksville may have something.

I could be wrong, but I think there may be a hotel on highway 50, right off I-75? The one time I went up to Croom this is the exit we took to drive up there.
