Subject: sports massage
i was entertaining the idea of getting a sports massage on friday before my peak race of the spring/summer season this sunday to loosen me up and clear out lactic acid. has anyone gotten one before a major race?-wondering if two days out it too close and might leave me a bit sore?

Definitely don't do anything before a race you haven't done before. Sport massages can leave one feeling sore. Do yourself a favor schedule it at least a week before your race, if you have to have one. Otherwise, do it after the race.

My general rule is no massage within a week of an event because they can leave you feeling sore. However, as with all things pyhsical, everybody is different. Some people do just fine, others are left sore. You just have to figure out which one you are.
