Pre-race routine:

wake up 4:30 drink a gator aide prime, and had a muscle milk shake.
Event warmup:

not much, i was the in the second wave so got wet suit on and stood in line
Swim
  • 48m 5s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

The water was COLD!!! the head race official said the water temp was 70 but all the local fishing reports say it is in the 63-65 range. I know the head judge took the temp at the edge of the swim entrance were it was knee high, not sure if this was the official,or part of an average she took, but either way it was
COLD!!!!
What would you do differently?:

The first 1/4 mile i could not breath and was having trouble with my goggles. I was not ready for the cold.
Not do a race this late in the year, or with the water this cold.
Transition 1
  • 04m 14s
Comments:

did good in T1, i am a minimalist and usually have very little to get on and out of transition. the run from swim exit to transition was long and that is where most of my time was from
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 3h 35m 14s
  • 56 miles
  • 15.61 mile/hr
Comments:

Just need more time in the saddle, you can look at my logs, prior to this race i did not do much riding, and nothing over 2 hours.
What would you do differently?:

ride more, mostly hard, some easy.
Transition 2
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

I thought this would be my longest transition, dont know how other could take longer than 3 min, i was calm, sat down to put my shoes on, had a gu, grabbed a powerbar and was off.
What would you do differently?:

forgot to undo my shoes and got to the dismonut line before i realized i needed to do so. remember to unbucle my shoes prior to the dismount line

Run
  • 3h 05m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 14m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I am a slow runner. on a good day i can run 11 min miles with fresh legs so coming off the bike this is not bad for me. I just need to train more and run more to get better. maybe include some speed work and some bricks.
What would you do differently?:

run more, mostly easy some hard. Also do more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

sat down under a tent

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my talent/training

Event comments:

This was the first race i have done that did not run out of water or gator-aide during the run. It is a well run race. I have done others from this group and i will do more.
