Subject: RE: Ultragen vs. Endurox R4 browncd - 2011-06-18 2:51 PM What about real food?? Is there any scientific evidence that any commerical recovery drink works better then just eating a balance meal after a workout? I have tried Endurox R4 (Choc my favorite) for a while, but it is expensive and I wasn't convinced it was helping that much. I just made sure to eat a regular meal within a half hour after a hard workout. After a morning workout, it is typically a bowl of bran flakes in 1% milk with some blueberries. After an evening workout it is typically grilled fish or chicken with brown rice and brocilli or grean beans. If it is going to be much longer then a half hour before I can fix a meal, I just have a glass of choc milk and a banana. I really could not deal the difference in how I felt, but that is just me. I think real whole foods would be commonly accepted as the best source of recovery nutrition; as to which whole foods are best, well thats a whole nother thread. At least for me, the Endurox (or other recovery drink), is all about convenience. I end my bike rides at my car. Its easy to freeze a nalgene bottle of water and pour some powder in it after its been melting in my car for three hours. I try to eat a good meal within a few hours, but the Endurox is nice to have at hand at the end of the workout to get me back on my feet. |
