Normal, other than really cold water. Wore neoprene socks and cap. Face was cold the entire swim.
Transition 1
  • 04m 29s
Comments:

Just a lot of stuff to get off without fingers 100% working due to the cold. Also put on a tight compression top since it was 40 something degrees when we started the bike.

Have not heard very good things about this race at all.  Have you done other half races to compare?

Yes, I've done m-dot 70.3s and others..a total of 8 or 9 plus one Ironman.  It was small and had some issues, but I knew it would when I signed up for the first race for a new promoter.  I had realistic expectations.  Many people expected it to be an m-dot.  It is not and it will be years before they can even attempt to try to be.

I have to say, any shortcoming are not for lack of commitment or caring.  Every staff member was awesome and obviously knew their customer is the racer and treated them like gold.  There were noticable improvements from Saturday to Sunday.  I expect there to be substantial incremental improvements at the next venue.  The only question is if they can satify the expectations of the m-dot crowd in time to remain a viable business venture.  I hope they do!

Do a race and have realistic expectations and you will be very happy!
