Subject: Last Day / First day training plans?

I have done a long run on the 31st for the past several years.  Last year my "Long" run on new years eve was only 6 miles because of injury.  I didn't put in huge mileage this year and am still on the mend but intend to go 14 to 15 in the morning.

I imagine others make a new years day run/ride to kick of the year rather than a big run the day before.

Any have training plans for the holiday?

My "partying" consists of going to a friend's house with kids, saying Happy New Year's at 8:30, going home, have a glass of wine or 2 and go to bed.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the Trek store to pick up my new speed Concept 7.0!!! After a fit, I'm putting on my winter riding gear and taking her out for a spin. 8pm I have a quiet party to attend and merriment to have. New Years Day i am planning on a 2.5 mi run to the YMCA, swim and a 2.5 mi run home to a tasty pork tenderloin on the grill. Happy new year everyone.

Jeremy and Judith are coming over. So I guess my New Year's Day plans depend on how bad an influence I allow Jeremy to be on me. I would like to do something that day so I can say I had more miles in than Amy at something for at least part of the year.

12-31 is easy day, going to take kids to Dayon Gms hockey game and then home to watch the ball drop.  New Years day will start with 5K race in Troy and end with a hobo dinner.  I can't wait for the cabbage rolls, always marks the end to the holiday season!

TSimone - 2011-12-30 7:00 PM I need 12 miles to hit 800 for the year so I may give that a shot.

DO IT!

I will finish off the year with a 2 1/2 hour spin with my tri group at the YMCA. Tomorrow I will be running about 4 miles with a buddy of mine.

Have fun picking up that SC7.0! I got mine last february and love it!

Finished my 10.10 mile run this am. Party tonight - beer, euchre. Asprin and couch on the First followed by pork and sourkraut and hopefully a nap. I'll begin 2012 on the Second

Did the Columbus River Run this morning down at North Bank Park (got rained on - and hailed on for a minute!), and won a free entry to the Columbus Marathon, so a great start to the year so far!

All did not go as planned, no beer, no euchre, oh well. Biked 45 min with lunge, ham bridge, squat , calf raise intervals  try to get every 10 min. Felt much better than a hangover.

ND, nice, I did not no that race was going on. Would have liked to have a chance at free marathon entry, oh well.

I did a 7.5 mile group run on NYE. On the first, there was a five mile group run that I was debating attending, although I was leaning toward NOT, since Sunday is not a run day on my brand new training plan. Plus, today is yet another group run and I didn't want to run three days in a row, especially since it's hard not to run a little harder with a group.

Anyway, if I didn't run yesterday, I was going to get on the trainer - that was my tentative plan, which was crushed by ringing in the new year with too much to drink and playing the Michael Jackson Experience on the kinect until 3:30 am with my drunk friends.

So, the first was an official rest day, since raising my head enough to get on the trainer made me woozy. BUT I did 45 minutes on the trainer this morning and will be attending tonight's group run (prob 4-6 miles) in the snow. And Michael Jackson on the kinect is a workout!
