Really... That's about as far away from a haurache as you can get.

Maybe it's more of a reference to the food and how fast you run to the bathroom...

OK I admit I had to google it.  Isn't the food a reference to the sandal by the same name?  So the shoe is a reference to the sandal as well, not the food?

Im from Mexico, and need to join this thread.

Yep, the food is in reference to the sandal, because a of the shape of it.

But if those Shoes are in reference to the Sandal those are some ugly shoes, but I believe they are trying to reference the "Barefoot feel", that the Huarache gives you.

By the way, Tarahumaran Natives can do Ultra Marathon distances on those things, that is pretty impressive.

Nike also makes a basketball shoe and a baseball cleat with the same name.

Wow, so they are resurrecting the Haurache? I had a pair of these in high school around 90-91, maybe 92, I don't remember the exact year.  I loved them because they were comfy and had neat colors.  Mine were neon pink and blue.  Never wore them for running, though, bought them purely because of comfort and looks (hey, I was a teenager, what did I know?).  This was during my I hate running stage of life.
