Pre-race routine:

Drove 90 minutes to Florence and met two other couples, one of who brought their two teenage kids to race, at the race site. We just hung out until our wave started @11:00.
Event warmup:

Made sure I had my chip for the post-race free beer (it was also the timing chip). Yum, free beer!

Comments:

Lisa and I ran the entire course. We ran the course with the others in our group, and we regrouped and waited for the slowest of our group after each obstacle. I did not finish a wall obstacle because of my fear of heights while going over the top..., but I did scale the wall to the top. The final wall obstacle involved sliding down a wall into slippery mud. As we cautiously lowered ourselves down we saw two victims getting medical attention. One of them had an ankle bent very far in a very wrong direction. OWWW!!

The heat got to one of our friends, so I walked with him until he felt better.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing at all! It was a good time!
Post race
Warm down:

Wiped some mud off, ate a banana, got hosed off, donated my muddy shoes, drank my free beer, ate a BBQ pork sandwich and some free granola, and hung out with friends. It doesn't get better. I think we have a group date for the same thing next year.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Doing it with friends, which was the original plan.

Performance: Good
Course: The course was a mud run of 3.28 miles on a flat dirt road with 13 obstacles. The obstacles were much more difficult than last year, including three that went high enough to kick in my fear of heights. The mud pit at the end was also much deeper, slimier, and murkier than last year...which was great! :)
