Hopefully no bonk on the run this time, hehe.

I'll be doing the sprint.  I have a month now to improve my training and hopefully break the 2hr. mark.  Would really like to finish under 1hr 50min, but we'll see.  Joining a swim team and a cycling club, so that'll probably help.

Luckily this course is only 45 minutes from where I live, so I'll probably get a chance to try the course out a few times before race day.

Me too. Hopefully I won't hyperventilate on the swim this time ) Bought a new wetsuit, but may not need it for this one.  August will be warm and I prefer the cold. My second Olympic tri as well.  Looking forward to it.  Will lose 2 weeks training in July due to travel abroad, but hope to make a good showing and have fun!

water quality is fine as far as my 'expert" opinion tells me. You can see a good 8-12 inches beyond your goggles. Water temp was 76-78 last year - kinda toasty for wetsuits - I imagine it might be just as warm this year

Just signed up.  This will also be my 2nd Olympic.  How does this course compare to Deer Creek?

caesar creek has : no big hills but a more rolling terrain on the bike , longer grass/dam section on the run - run is also two loops for OLY distance

Can anyone recommend any lodging in the area or at least relatively nearby to Caesar Creek?

any hotel/motel on the south side of dayton (centerville, miamisburg, springboro) puts you about 20 min away - route 73 is a straight shot over to Caesars Creek beach

well, I am officially out and my season is over :-(

Car turned in front of me on Thurs and I went over the handlebars at 20mph.
Right wrist is destroyed, right clavicle has a nice 90 turn to it now.

Will be having surgery this week :-(

The bike is fine

Oh man that is terrible.

I hope the driver dies a slow and miserable death.  (or at least pays your bills and goes to jail)

Where did this happen by the way?

In Rocky River, right where Clifton turns into Lake Ave.... right across from Bearden's, I think.

The driver was an older gentleman, I have no idea currently if he was even cited. I expect that I will hear from the RRPD at some point tomorrow (my phone was destroyed in the wreck, missed a call from them on Friday, but have a new phone now).

That's horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I know right where that is, too.  That area can be tricky with the change of speed limit, "Tangletown", and what I remember as "not-the-smoothest-roads-in-River".  I'm really sorry for your situation, but glad you're still posting--that means you're still alive!  (and glad the bike is ok, too!)

Rest up, heal, do exactly what the doctors say.  There will be more races, but there's only one of you.

I am officially registered for the Girls Tri Too race.  I'll be starting things off bright and early at 7:30am.  I hope to see some of you at the race.

Really sorry to hear about the mishap Cgregg.  Hope the healing goes well and you are back at in no time.  If the driver was not cited, that will be the third accident in River that I know of that a driver at fault is not given any citation.

From what I can tell he current surface temp is 82. I know the reading for the race is taken at a certain depth but I doubt it's deep enough to drop 4 degrees. I found the information on this site.... http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/wq/cck.html. You will need to cut and paste because iPhones don't play well with formats on the forum! Good luck in the race!
