Age Group Rank = 7/15
Pre-race routine:

Bagel and water at home
Event warmup:

None, yapped with a few people
Swim
  • 10m 20s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think it was a little long this year, but either way, I got a long way to go as a swimmer. I couldn't get into a groove.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim better, it really is just that simple.
Transition 1
  • 02m 54s
Comments:

This went well, kudos to the tri shirt.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing but practice.
Bike
  • 39m 46s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.61 mile/hr
Comments:

This was one of the challenges. Note to self, when putting the bottle back into the cage after drinking, make sure it is in the cage. ARGH! I dropped the thing, turned around, went back and retrieved it. It was my only bottle/nutrition of the whole race and leaving it behind was not going to be a good idea. All that facotred in, I still beat last year. So, while I am not happy with the bike, really, how sad can I be?
What would you do differently?:

Don't drop the bottle, DOH!
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

35 seconds is a time I may never beat, so that is all good!
What would you do differently?:

nada, zip, zilch.
Run
  • 36m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

I have to be tougher. There was no reason to walk any of this, yet I did at least 4 times. I lost time there. I realize that I'm not podium bound anytime soon, but really? Really? Cowboy up dude!

OK, I still knocked nearly 4 minutes off last year, so how unhappy can I be?
What would you do differently?:

HTFU
Post race
Warm down:

Wander around, cheer, yap with folks.

Congrats! Taking 4 minutes off your time when you had that little bike detour is great - sounds to me like you cowboyed up

Good effort Chris. Factor in the bottle retrieval and lost ground/ momentum and you are probably 20 places higher and 6 minutes better than last year. Great bike speed. Now just HTFU and throw in a few training bricksWink.

CONGRATULATIONS!

That's a great PR over last year. And not finding rhythm on the swim, dropping bottles, walk breaks ... are all a part and parcel of the tri adventure. You've got the rest of your life to sort it out and KEEP HAVING FUN and pushing yourself!

Nice work Chris.  I've dropped the bottle before during a race, not fun.  Still a good bike split even with the mishap.  Yeah that was a fast T2.

Awesome job, Chris!  Way to bounce back after the bottle drop.  And taking 4 minutes off last year's time even with the bottle mishap means you are doing something right!  I like your new profile pic, I presume it is from this race?

Sounds like overall you had a great day! That bike time is totally impressive and 35 second T2??? What the butt?  Way to stick with it with the swim (yeah, yeah, I know we dont' really have a choice but to stick with the swim, lol - unless you wait for the current to take you back to shore!) and run.
