I am in! Laughing

Very excited to be racing with Fred and a few other BT’er.  I am looking forward to it.  This will also server as a preview for Ironman Mont-Tremblant 2014.

One thing to mention that I didn’t realize and it’s no big deal really would have not changed my registering.  If the following statement is true

Are you a Triathlon Quebec member?

--- No, I am not a member and need to purchase a one day license CDN$17.25

This race from what I have been told does not count towards USAT ranking.  That probable will not matter to most.  I guess all races outsideUSterritory don’t count.

Depending on the results of the Quebec election tonight, you might need a Visa for the republic of Quebec too if they vote to separate!

Just signed up. But how do you tell how many spots are remaining? I wasn't able to find this anywhere on the website.

Thanks

The person responsible for the timing company (Sportstats) posted on Slowtwitch that there were 57 spots left this morning.  There is no other way to tell as far as I know.

107 days until race day.

How is everyone feeling about their training?  I'm really happy with everything, swim, bike and run - can't wait to race!

If anyone hasn't booked accommodations or is looking for a better price, the www.tremblant.ca website has a lot of the hotels available at 35% off the regular rate for the 70.3 weekend if you book by March 19th.  I just saved myself about $170 by rebooking.

I'm getting really excited but nervous about the hills on the bike.  It won't stop snowing here, so I'm stuck on my trainer.  I really can't wait for the snow to melt so that I can tackle some hills here!

Anyone have any idea about the temperature of the water? I saw a photo yesterday of the lake still frozen . Purchased a neoprene hood just to be on the safe side!

Ha, I don't think it will be that cold.  I think people were worried it wouldn't be wetsuit legal last year.

I would be thrilled if it were warm enough not to be wetsuit legal! I hate cold water swimming!

Guaranteed it will be wetsuit. The Full is in August and it was wetsuit legal. This is 2 months earlier.

I hate to disappoint you but it won't be warm. There is an Oly there June 8th. I'll tell you how cold then.

My guess : 18C for the Oly, maybe 20 for the half.

The lake may indeed still have ice on it.  I was up in Sudbury last weekend which has similar winter and weather and there was still a thin broken up film of ice on a similar sized lake.

It is warming up a lot though...keep it coming!

Did everyone see that the bike course changed slightly for this year?  It goes out a few kms farther on the 117 hwy and a bit shorter up Duplessis.  Also a slightly different route through St Jovite.

We're almost 2 weeks out folks...

Some friends were up last weekend and they couldn't get in any of the lakes up there due to it being too cold.  Apparently you can't get into the actual lake without permission.  I was told to use my road bike for the race so it is a lot of up and down on the course!

I am paranoid about the lake temp!! I really don't do well with freezing to death.

Has anyone else been up?

You don't need your road bike, a tri bike will work just fine and be faster at the end of the day.

As for the water temperature, it can change quickly with some warm days.  One of our lakes went from bone chilling to about 20C in less than two weeks.  We just need those warm sunny days to actually happen!
