#94 - 2.8 miles
#95 - 1.4 miles
#96 - 1.2 miles
#97 - 1.5 miles

I've cut back quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. I've been trying to slow down and keep my runs under 3 miles so as not to aggravate my non-medically-diagnosed shin splints. I've been stretching and icing and rolling to alleviate the pain as well. I keep telling myself that mileage isn't important right now, and just to keep the streak alive.

#896- 4 mi
#897- 6.2 mi
#898- 4 mi
#899- 8 mi
#900- 4.6 mi, tried to do some speedwork on the treadmill, started limping when I got up to about 9mph, so I called it
#901- 7.5 mi
#902- 5 mi, tried to do some strides at the end, was going to do 8 x 100m and finish at 6.2 mi, having problems with right leg, got through half of one
#903- 8 mi progression, kept it conservative

I am having some serious doubts about my race in roughly 8 days. I do get a bit of "taper madness" but this taper is genuinely worse. That 20 mile training run with 14.5 mi at race pace took more out of me than I wanted to admit. My knee is still bothering me, but it was worse going into NYC last year so I'm not too worried about that now. Its my right hamstring now. I think I spent too much time focusing on my 100 mile trail attempt and not enough time running fast in training

I think I'm going to take most of the beginning of this week really easy, then maybe a day or so near the end of the week I'll pick it up a bit to shake out the cobwebs. It's frustrating because I feel that 97% of my body is ready to go, but its that 3% that may betray me.

I'm not smart enough to change my race plan, so what will be will be. If I can run, I will. If I can't, I still will (just slower).

Its been great that its warm enough to push the boys in the stroller on my runs not. Its a good motivator when they yell, "FASTER!" or "GO!"

Congrats on 100 runs in 100 days!

#904- 2 miles. Legs sluggish from taper. Hamstring ok. It only hurts when I try to run fast. Hopefully when I run fast next time there will be no pain. Very hard to go only 2 miles. It was so nice today, sucks tapering with weather like this.

Tapering sucks, but just keep in mind how close your race is! You've put in an outstanding amount of work. Almost go time...

Rich have a great time in Boston and I hope the marathon goes well for you. Looking forward to your thoughts on it compared to NY.

#905-2 mi
#906- 2 mi
#907- 2.2 mi

This has been less of a taper and more of "stopping training." I did do a about 1/2 mile race pace at the end of each 2 mile run, and intended to do 6.2 mi with 4 miles at race pace today, but I felt that tightness coming on in my leg and just played it safe. I figured rest is probably more important than anything else right now.

Running early tomorrow, and cutting out of work early and heading right up to Boston for the weekend. Still not sure how aggressively I will race, but I figure there is no harm in going out as planned and adjusting as needed.

Really appreciate it, not sure how my race will turn out, but like NYC, I will be happy just being out there.

#6596 is the bib number. Thanks, gives me extra motivation knowing I'll have some people out there following.

Good luck with your marathon Sunday Ron, and thanks for the course advice. I'll try my best to save something for the hills.

#908- 2 miles - I'm going with the "hay is in the barn" philosophy on this one, we will see how it turns out.

Yesterday was day 60 and my marathon in Athens, Ohio. I am so not in marathon shape and yesterdays race proved it to me. My PF started acting up about mile 10 so it was a struggle from there on in, not to mention it was warm yesterday and very humid. I still managed to get in under 4 hours but just barely, 3:59:34, my slowest marathon to date that I was racing. It was worse than I was hoping for when I signed up for the race but better than I expected given my training this year so far. I have only managed 560 so far this year, my peak week for this was 43 miles, I am up about 20 pounds, still battling an injury and had only one 20 mile since December. Now it is time to ramp up the weekly mileage and get healthy. I also will be heading out soon for day 61.
